As we continue our spotlight on local farmers for the Thrive project, we visit an organic farm in the south of the island. Run by Marina Cardona, a pioneering farmer who left her career as an occupational therapist to launch this agroecological project, reclaiming this semi-abandoned land represents a personal return to her roots. 👩🌾🌱
For Marina, farming is an act of responsibility and giving back that goes far beyond production. She sees her work as a gesture of gratitude to the land and her immediate community, a way to breathe life back into abandoned spaces and protect the local landscape.
By regenerating the soil and caring for native varieties, she is building the future from the everyday. As she beautifully puts it:
“Behind every piece of food, there is a service to the land and a commitment to leaving a kinder world for future generations.”

Siguiendo con nuestro especial sobre los agricultores y agricultoras locales para el proyecto Thrive, hoy visitamos La finca ecológica Can Puvil, en el sur de la isla. Dirigido por Marina Cardona —una agricultora pionera que dejó su trabajo como terapeuta ocupacional—, para iniciar este proyecto de agroecologia. Recuperar las tierras en semiabando de su familia es un regreso muy personal a sus raíces familiares. 👩🌾🌱
Para Marina, la agricultura es un acto de responsabilidad y de ofrecimiento que va más allá de la producción. Ve su trabajo como una forma de agradecer y devolver algo a la tierra y a su comunidad más cercana, recuperando terrenos abandonados y protegiendo el paisaje. Al regenerar el suelo y cuidar las variedades locales, está construyendo el futuro desde el día a día. Como ella misma dice de forma tan bonita: «Detrás de cada alimento hay un servicio a la tierra y el compromiso de dejar un mundo más amable para las próximas generaciones».
