🧠 Can mental health support help with pain management?

Pain is not only a physical experience. It can also affect mood, sleep, motivation, relationships and everyday life.

In this Digi4MSK video, we explain how stress, anxiety, low mood and poor sleep can influence pain — and how mental health support may help people cope better with its impact.

You’ll learn about:
✔ cognitive behavioural therapy
✔ mindfulness and relaxation
✔ counselling and support groups
✔ when it may be useful to seek professional support

Seeking help is not a weakness. It can be an important step towards understanding pain, feeling less alone and regaining a sense of control.

💻 Can online consultations help with pain?

For many people, yes. Online consultations can be a useful and effective way to receive guidance, understand symptoms, review progress and support self-management — especially when travelling to a clinic is difficult.

In this Digi4MSK video, we explain:
✔ how healthcare professionals can assess and guide patients online
✔ the benefits of telehealth for pain care
✔ when an in-person visit may still be needed
✔ how online support can help with education, movement and daily pain management

Online care is not about replacing every face-to-face visit. It’s about offering flexible, accessible support when it is appropriate and safe.

Sometimes pain comes back. And when it does, it’s normal to want to stop everything.

But a flare-up does not necessarily mean you are back to square one.

Often, the most helpful strategy is not complete rest — it’s adjusting the dose:
✔ less intensity
✔ shorter activities
✔ more breaks

Small adaptations can help you stay active without overwhelming your body.

Is it safe to keep moving when you are in pain?

This is one of the most common fears people living with persistent pain experience. But in many cases, avoiding movement completely can actually make things harder over time.

Our new Digi4MSK video explains:
✔️ Why pain doesn’t always mean damage
✔️ How movement can help reduce sensitivity and improve confidence
✔️ What “safe discomfort” really means
✔️ How to start moving again gradually and safely

One of the key messages:
Moving with pain is not about pushing through agony. It’s about taking smart, gentle steps forward.

Even small actions — a short walk, light stretching, daily movement — can make a real difference.

🩻 “I need an MRI to know what’s wrong.”

Actually… not always.

Many imaging findings are also seen in people with NO pain . That means more scans do not always mean better care.

In our latest Digi4MSK video, we explain:
✔️ Why unnecessary imaging can sometimes do more harm than good
✔️ When scans are really needed
✔️ How movement and active recovery matter more than many people think

🧠 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻?

It’s very common to think that an X-ray or MRI will show exactly what’s wrong.
But in many cases, scans are 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹.

In this video, we explain:
✔ Why many scan findings are normal (even without pain)
✔ Why scans don’t usually speed up recovery
✔ How they can sometimes lead to unnecessary worry or treatments

💬 Sometimes, the best approach is simpler: stay active, monitor symptoms and follow your doctor’s advice.
