The Nexus of Climate Action and Global Devlopment
********************************************************
Climate change and sustainable development are deeply interconnected, as the impacts of a warming planet directly threaten the progress made across all dimensions of human development. Climate change acts as a profound threat multiplier, meaning it doesn't just create new problems but aggressively worsens existing ones like poverty, hunger, and inequality.
This relationship is codified in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where climate action (Goal 13) and Reo declaration 1992 serves as a vital prerequisite for achieving other objectives like clean water, affordable energy, and reduced inequalities.
Therefore, integrating climate resilience into development planning is essential to ensure that global growth is equitable, long-lasting, and occurs safely within our planetary boundaries.
True sustainable development—which aims to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs—cannot be achieved without urgent climate action.
The Oromia Forest and Wildlife Enterprise (OFWE) remains a cornerstone in the protection and conservation of natural forests in Ethiopia’s largest regional state. It is currently managing a vast network of natural forest concessions, 24 parks, and 18 Eco-tourism sites. The enterprise has been instrumental in preserving Oromia's biodiversity since its founding. The enterprise’s multifaceted approach combines active forest management with Eco-tourism to ensure long-term climate resilience and regional growth.
