MODY diabetes is also called type 3A diabetes.often misdiagnosed as type 1 or type 2.

It is a single gene disorder resulting in impaired b cell function.it is an autosomal dominant condition.so strong family is the rule for diagnosis.

It accounts for 2-5% of diabetic diagnosis.

Criteria

▶️ Young diabetes often less 30 years, non obese individuals

▶️ Strong family history classically 3 generation family history of diabetes in the young.

▶️ Negative antibodies and positive c peptide.

▶️ Confirmation with genetic testing of HNF1@, Glucokinase gene mutation, or HNF 4@

Responds to sulfonylurea like MODY3 AND Lifestyle modification.

Some may require insulin

Family screening may be required.
