about the TT vaccine (Tetanus Toxoid) — a simple reminder for everyone: TT protects against tetanus, a serious infection caused by Clostridium tetani that affects the nervous system and causes painful muscle spasms. It’s a toxoid vaccine given intramuscularly, usually into the upper arm (deltoid) in adults. TT is recommended during pregnancy to protect both mother and newborn from maternal & neonatal tetanus, and it’s also given after certain injuries or wounds when indicated. Booster doses are needed to maintain protection. If you’re unsure about your status after an injury or during pregnancy planning, check with your healthcare provider — staying up to date keeps you and your baby safer.
