⚠️ Severe, life-threatening type I hypersensitivity reaction
🧪 Caused by IgE-mediated mast cell & basophil degranulation → massive histamine release
𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀:
🍊 Foods → peanuts, shellfish, eggs
💊 Drugs → penicillin, NSAIDs, contrast media
🪰 Insect stings → bees, wasps
🧤 Latex or vaccines (rare)
𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀:
⏱️ Rapid onset (minutes after exposure)
💥 Airway → throat tightness, laryngeal edema, wheezing, stridor
❤️ Cardiovascular → hypotension, tachycardia, shock
🩸 Skin → urticaria, flushing, angioedema
🤢 GI → vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps
💀 Risk of airway obstruction or cardiovascular collapse
𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
💉 Epinephrine IM (first-line, mid-thigh) → repeat if needed
💧 Airway support + high-flow O₂
💦 IV fluids (normal saline)
💊 Adjuncts → antihistamines (H1/H2 blockers), corticosteroids
🏥 Observe ≥4–6 h for biphasic reactions

💉 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 — give it early!
⏰ Delayed administration = ↑ mortality
👜 Patients with prior anaphylaxis should always carry an 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗣𝗲𝗻
