We are proud to celebrate the successful completion of the second cohort of grant writing training at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Wollo University.

Thirty-five dedicated academic staff members successfully completed the intensive one-week training program, demonstrating exceptional commitment to academic excellence, research advancement, and professional growth.

Through two rounds of training conducted over 14 days, a total of 87 academic staff members have now successfully finalized the program. This remarkable achievement reflects the strong culture of learning, collaboration, and capacity building within our institution.

Our sincere appreciation goes to all participants for their passion, energy, discipline, and unwavering commitment to strengthening research and grant-writing capacity. The enthusiasm and active engagement shown throughout the training were truly inspiring.
We are especially proud to have such outstanding, motivated, and visionary academics who are always eager to participate in capacity-building opportunities that contribute to institutional excellence and community impact.

Together, we are building a stronger research culture, empowering innovation, and shaping a brighter future for our university and society.

We highly thank Dr Esubalewe Tesfahun from Debre Birhan University who delivered the training for two weeks.

Transforming Change Through Compassion, Awareness, and Collective Action........................................................................

In a remarkable expression of humanity and social responsibility, the AHC-AAU–Wollo University Project has officially launched the first phase of its transformative community intervention across Dessie, Haik and surrounding areas igniting hope where it is needed most and inspiring a new generation to rise with purpose.

Rooted in the comprehensive needs assessment conducted last April among high schools, internally displaced communities and surrounding populations, the initiative stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when knowledge, compassion, and collective action unite for the greater good.

This is not merely an intervention. It is a mission to restore dignity, awaken potential, and create lasting impact. The project has already begun transforming lives through dynamic awareness sessions on Primary Health Care (PHC), social responsibility, and youth empowerment at Memhir Akale Wold and Catholic Secondary Schools. Students participated with extraordinary passion and commitment, demonstrating that the leaders of tomorrow are already among us, ready to serve, inspire, and drive meaningful change within their communities.

Beyond the classroom walls, the initiative extended its compassionate reach to internally displaced families in Haik and Dessie at Gerado. Through awareness campaigns and humanitarian support generously mobilized by our university students, the project delivered more than assistance, it delivered hope, solidarity, and the reassuring message that no community should ever feel forgotten.

As this inspiring movement continues to grow, the next phase will witness the establishment of a Students’ Primary Health Care (PHC) Club at Tita High School, a visionary platform dedicated to nurturing peer education, volunteerism, innovation, and a lasting culture of service among young people.

Together, we are not only changing communities, we are shaping a future built on humanity, unity, and purpose.
