A quiet set for today.

We’re losing microbial diversity, slowly — and the variation that used to move with the seasons has mostly flattened.

This isn’t an alarm bell. It’s an invitation. Diversity is something you build, gradually, with the things you eat, where you spend time, and how your days are shaped.

Happy World Digestive Health Day 🌱

Five things we hear a lot — that aren’t quite right.

World Digestive Health Day is this week.
A good moment to move away from quick fixes
and come back to what the research actually shows.

Gut health is something you build — gradually, consistently.

Save this for when you need a reminder 🌿

May in the Peaks has been a mixture of sunshine and showers. We’ve spent the dry days tidying up the cottage allotment.

A fresh coat of woodstain for the beds and Freddie’s picnic bench. A full on spring clean for the greenhouse.

Most importantly .. we’ve officially planted enough potatoes to keep Freddie in homemade chips until autumn!! 🥔

Seed cycling is being talked about a lot right now.

The honest answer? The evidence isn’t particularly strong yet.

But the idea comes from the nutrients in each seed — flax and sesame for lignans, pumpkin for zinc, sunflower for vitamin E. And seeds themselves? Proper fibre, minerals, real nourishment.

I don’t rely on this for hormone balance. I just like having something simple I can come back to.

And if there’s a benefit beyond that — I’ll take it 🌿

There’s something about this warm, sunny weather that calls for something cold, creamy… and nourishing.

As soon as the sun’s out, Freddie starts asking if it’s an ice cream day ☀️🍦

This has become our go-to — a simple, nourishing option that supports his gut, rather than loading up on refined sugar and additives.

Just 3 ingredients:
* 150g frozen mango
* 1 banana (frozen works best for creaminess)
* 75g kefir or coconut yoghurt

Blend until smooth and creamy. Scoop into cones for that proper sunshine treat 🍦

Mango + banana = prebiotic fibre to feed good bacteria.
Kefir or coconut yoghurt = live cultures to support your microbiome.

No added sugar, no additives — just real, nourishing ingredients.

Save it for the next sunny afternoon x

It’s often an Instagram Vs Reality set up in our kitchen!! Especially with two kitties and a Freddie under my feet. Sharing some of our BTS moments from May.

1. Quick before it melts
2. Someone was VERY keen to sample every breakfast pot
3. The kitties are never far out of shot
4. Stealing the strawbs before I’d even snapped them
5. Using every jug in the house to get the perfect pour
6. The out of shot mess you don’t see in the finished Reel!

The 5 things I do every day to keep my Gut happy!

🏃🏼‍♀️Move my body
Even gentle daily movement helps support digestion, bowel motility, blood sugar balance, and microbiome diversity

🥤Include at least 1 fermented food or drink
Fermented foods help introduce beneficial live cultures that can support a healthier, more resilient gut microbiome

🥜Use high fibre foods like flaxseeds to help me hit my 30g a day target. Fibre feeds beneficial gut bacteria and helps produce short-chain fatty acids linked to gut and immune health

🥝Eat a kiwi a day
Kiwis are rich in fibre and natural digestive enzymes, and studies suggest they may help support regular bowel movements and digestion.

Take my live liquid probiotic
because even with all the great movement and foods I’m incorporating, I know how reactive my skin can be and this offers concentrated support for my gut, which in turn keeps my skin healthy

Happy Gut Happy Skin 😄
