Spring focus at Pendley Manor

Well, what a special Spring Rebalance day we shared last Saturday - a restorative day-retreat designed to help women pause, reconnect and welcome the new season with fresh perspectives and stronger intention.

Together, we explored wellbeing, home, gardens and self-care through sound bowls and gongs, facial yoga and journalling. This unlocked thoughtful conversation during inspiring sessions focused on how our inner and outer environments shape the way we live and feel. We also enjoyed time outdoors in the beautiful grounds and sunshine - and the peacocks turned out in force to hang out with us and be fed after lunch.

What stayed with me most was the atmosphere in the room - open and thoughtful from start to finish. A real reminder of the importance of connection, self-care and giving ourselves permission to pause for a moment in the middle of busy lives.

Some of the reflections shared afterwards included:
“Feeling happy and inspired by the day.”
“A reminder about carving out me-time, to pause and just be.”
“Thank you for wonderful conversations and lots of new inspiration.”

A huge thank you to the guest speakers who helped make the day special by sharing their expertise.

What happens when women gather with intention?

Life can carry us along at speed when we are juggling multiple priorities and responsibilities, plus endless to-do lists. It can feel as though we’re constantly moving without ever stopping.

Our Supper Clubs are an invitation to take time out, step away from the noise, and enjoy meaningful conversation with like-minded women in a welcoming space.

What stays with me most after each gathering is the atmosphere in the room, open, supportive and uplifting. A reminder of how important connection can be in the middle of busy lives.

Looking back through these photographs from previous Supper Clubs, I’m reminded of the laughter and stories shared, the friendships formed, and the simple joy of being present.
Sometimes all it takes is one evening away from the day-to-day routine to return feeling a little lighter. Inspiration can be found when we’re not looking for it.

✨ Perhaps it’s time to gift yourself an evening of good conversation and connection. Your seat is waiting at our next Supper Club.

Ever wondered what a Sekawomen day-retreat is all about?

There’s a distinct kind of noise that builds when you’re spinning a gazillion plates. It isn’t a loud, sudden crash, but rather a persistent hum in your head, as the invisible list of anticipating, remembering, and holding it all together for everyone else grows. We may simply call it “being busy,” but really it’s the weight of our mental load bearing down on us and disrupting our equilibrium, calm and peace. It can leave us feeling imbalanced and a bit “off”, if we don’t give ourselves permission to tune in and listen to what lies beneath and figure out what we need.

If you’ve never been to a day-retreat, you might think, looking in from the outside, that it’s self-indulgent, a luxury, or perhaps an intense, all-or-nothing wellbeing overhaul.
In reality, it’s simply a guided pause. A regular sanctuary, where time stops for a moment and you can give yourself permission to just stop, breathe, and be.

What to expect from the day

Our retreats are purposefully designed to allow you to step out of the day-to-day, escape your routine, and reflect on where you are. We gather in beautiful, intentional settings to explore life’s themes - blending deep, soul-nourishing restoration with practical tips and insights.

When you join us for the day, you get:
*Space to think clearly in a calm, nurturing environment
*Expert-led sessions on topics important to women
*Time outdoors when the weather allows
*Meaningful conversation and community connection with like-minded women

Life doesn’t pause itself. You don’t need to wait for things to magically slow down before you decide to prioritise your self-care.

There’s a place waiting for you at our next day-retreat.

Hello and welcome. If you are new here, or if we haven’t personally met at a table yet, I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself and the story behind this space.

My name is Christina. I am the Founder of Sekawomen.

The word Seka comes from my Ghanaian heritage, it means calm, peace, and tranquility. It also carries connotations of joy and resilience. In a world that constantly pushes us to move faster, do more, and wear "busy" like a badge of honor, Sekawomen is an intentional movement based on a different perspective.

Impact isn't measured by how many plates you can keep spinning. True clarity happens when you allow yourself to stop, listen, and breathe.

Through our specially curated day-retreats, supper clubs, coaching, workshops and low-cost digital tools, we create nurturing, unpretentious spaces for women to step away from the reactive noise, reclaim their spark, and design their lives with intention.

We don't do "all-or-nothing" wellness here. We practice the art of the graceful no, we celebrate small, sustainable steps, and we firmly believe that done is better than perfect.

Whether your brain is completely full or you are simply looking for some me-time with a community of like-minded women who truly get it, there is a seat at the table waiting for you.

Take a deep breath today. You are allowed to pause.

With love,
Christina x

The Mid-Year Pause is on pause

For many months, I’ve been planning the very first Sekawomen residential retreat - The Mid-Year Pause, at the beautiful Burleigh Court Hotel in the Cotswolds.

It was due to take place this month. I tested the concept while designing it and was encouraged by the interest and excitement when it launched. However, sometimes, the timing isn’t right.

After lots of conversations, it became clear that many women felt ready for a retreat… but just not able to make space for one right now.. GCSEs and A-Levels, work pressures, family commitments and general emotional capacity all played a part.

So rather than pushing ahead for the sake of it, I’ve chosen to follow the advice I so often share with other women…pause, listen and reflect.

I’m now considering two alternative timings for the retreat:
- November 2026: For a cosy, restorative pre-festive season experience.
- April 2027: An opportunity for a fresh reset as spring begins.

I’ve created a short survey (under 5 mins) to understand which feels more appealing and what would make a retreat feel truly worthwhile for you.

As a little thank you, everyone who completes it by midnight on Friday 12th June will be entered into a prize draw to win a Sekawomen Wellbeing Goody Bag.

And please do share this with a girlfriend or women in your world who might enjoy having a say too - the more voices, the richer the insight.
In the meantime, Happy Monday and remember to pause and take a deep breath today. You don't have to spin every plate.

This photo captured a very real moment… nerves and a fair bit of nausea! Proof that even people who help others communicate for a living can still feel terrified at the thought of showing up themselves 😅 I wasn't feeling at all glamorous… but as I often coach others to do, sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and go for it.

Sometimes the smallest gatherings create the richest conversations…

Our recent Supper Club at ZaZa, Old Amersham may have been cosy in number, but it was abundant in every other sense. Everyone arrived as themselves and the conversation flowed with honesty, humour and warmth - acknowledging both the joys and the weight of being human and female, without heaviness or pretence.

Over great food and a glass of wine, we explored nourishment in the broadest sense - from menopause, fibre intake, magnesium and energy, to retro food favourites, sleep rituals, workplace challenges and even what the world might look like if women were running it.

A heartfelt thank you to Nutritional Therapist Brown for opening the evening with such an informative, practical and grounded talk, delivered with her trademark humour.

And thank you to Salvatore, Monica, Katalina and the team at restaurants, for providing a delicious meal and looking after us.

These evenings are never just about supper. They are judgement free spaces to relax, laugh, learn and connect.

Until next time!
