✌️🎶 Groovy Times at Stoneleigh Care Home! 🎶✌️
What a fantastic day we had at our 1960s-themed Open Day!
We were delighted to welcome residents' families and friends, along with our friends from the Royal Air Force Cadets. It was wonderful to see them once again as part of our continued support for our veteran residents and their families, helping us celebrate a truly special day together.
The home was filled with music, laughter, and wonderful memories thanks to the fantastic entertainment provided by John from Singalong with John and his Musical Therapy sessions. Residents, visitors, and staff all enjoyed singing along to familiar favourites, sharing stories from years gone by, and joining in with plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the afternoon.
To fully embrace the spirit of the decade, our team dressed in their best 60s-inspired outfits, bringing plenty of colour, fun, and nostalgia to the occasion. From flower power to classic mod fashion, everyone got into the groove!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. Seeing residents surrounded by loved ones, reminiscing, singing, and enjoying themselves together is exactly what community life at Stoneleigh is all about.

Discover Our Self-Led Activities Shelf at Stoneleigh Care Home

At Stoneleigh Care Home, we understand that meaningful activities don't always need to be organised events. Our Self-Led Activities Shelf has been thoughtfully created to provide residents with a variety of engaging and enjoyable activities that can be enjoyed independently or shared with loved ones.

The shelf includes a selection of jigsaws, sensory items, reminiscence resources, word searches, colouring books, reading materials, games, and puzzles, chosen to support wellbeing, stimulate the mind, and encourage independence. Many of the activities are particularly beneficial for residents living with dementia, helping to promote confidence, conversation, and a sense of achievement.

We warmly encourage families and friends to explore the shelf during visits and choose an activity to enjoy together. Completing a puzzle, looking through a reminiscence book, playing a game, or simply sharing a story can create valuable moments of connection and make visits even more meaningful.

Residents are also welcome to browse the shelf at any time and select something that interests them. Whether it's spending a quiet afternoon with a book, challenging themselves with a puzzle, or enjoying a favourite game with friends, there is something for everyone.

The Self-Led Activities Shelf is all about providing choice, encouraging engagement, and ensuring that meaningful activities are always available whenever residents wish to take part. 💜

🍨 A Wish Come True at Wheelbirks! 🍨

At Stoneleigh Care Home, we believe that wishes, no matter how big or small, deserve to be fulfilled.

This week, we enjoyed a wonderful trip to Wheelbirks Parlour to make John's wish come true – to have the biggest sundae on the menu! Judging by the smile on his face, it was worth every spoonful.

"It was absolutely brilliant! The biggest sundae I've ever had and the best day out. I felt like a king!" – John

The outing was about much more than ice cream. Spending time out in the community provides invaluable benefits for our residents, helping to boost wellbeing, encourage social interaction, stimulate memories, and create meaningful experiences. Being out and about brings a sense of independence, connection, and joy that cannot be underestimated.

The residents also loved watching families with young children enjoying their day at the farm. Seeing the excitement on the children's faces as they greeted the Jersey cows brought plenty of smiles and sparked many happy conversations. Moments like these help create connections between generations and remind us all of the simple pleasures in life.

A huge thank you to Wheelbirks for helping us make John's wish a reality and for providing such a welcoming environment for our residents.

🎶 What a fantastic afternoon we had at Stoneleigh Care Home with the wonderful Kayley Cares! 🎶

Kayley brought so much energy, warmth and fun to her performance, encouraging brilliant participation from our residents throughout the session. Residents loved getting involved with the handheld instruments Kayley provided, including maracas and tambourines, making everyone feel like they were truly part of the band. The room was filled with music, laughter and plenty of singing along!

One of the most touching parts of the visit was seeing Kayley take the time to visit residents who were unable to attend the main performance. She spent time in their rooms, singing acapella and encouraging them to join in, ensuring nobody missed out on the joy that music can bring.

Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, sparking memories and lifting spirits, and Kayley certainly did all of that and more. Thank you, Kayley, for creating such special moments for our residents – we can't wait to welcome you back to Stoneleigh again soon! ❤️🎵

Join us at Stoneleigh Care Home for our upcoming “Time for a Cuppa” Coffee Morning in support of Dementia UK.

We warmly invite residents, families, friends, and members of the local community to come together for a relaxed and welcoming morning filled with tea, coffee, delicious homemade cakes, and good company. This special event is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a friendly catch-up while raising vital funds for Dementia UK, helping to support families affected by dementia.

Residents at Stoneleigh have been making the most of the beautiful sunshine today ☀️🌸

To keep cool and hydrated, everyone enjoyed a selection of homemade fruity smoothies and delicious strawberry milkshakes, freshly prepared for a refreshing afternoon treat 🍓🥤

It was lovely to see residents relaxing outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, chatting together, and enjoying some well-deserved summer refreshments. Days like these bring so much joy and create wonderful moments for everyone at Stoneleigh 💛

Today, Jean fulfilled her wish of visiting the seaside and seeing the ships during a lovely day out to South Shields seafront with fellow residents from Stoneleigh Care Home. 🌊🚢

The group enjoyed a scenic drive along the coast before tucking into delicious fish and chips at Colmans Seafood Temple and relaxing by the sea watching the boats go by.

A wonderful day filled with fresh sea air, friendship, laughter and special memories ❤️

Residents had a wonderful time at Val’s Nik-Nak Party, enjoying the freedom to browse, choose and purchase their own special items. From beautiful room decorations to thoughtful gifts for loved ones, the event supported residents’ independence, personal choice and individuality in a fun and relaxed environment.

It was lovely to see so many smiles as residents picked out items to make their rooms feel even more homely and personal, while also enjoying the social side of the afternoon with friends and staff. 💜

🎤🕺 Viva Las Stoneleigh! 🕺🎤

Today the residents and staff at Stoneleigh Care Home came together to celebrate a very special milestone — Darren’s 60th birthday! 🎉

Our very own Elvis superfan was treated to an unforgettable party filled with music, laughter and plenty of dancing thanks to the amazing entertainment from singer Gary, who had everyone singing along to the classics! 🎶✨

No birthday celebration would be complete without cake, and our brilliant catering team truly outdid themselves with a fabulous themed birthday cake, complete with an incredible fondant Elvis topper fit for The King himself! 🎂👑

Happy 60th Birthday Darren — thank you for sharing your special day with all of us. We hope your day was full of love, memories and a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll! ❤️
