Confessions of a therapist...
1️⃣ Yes, we do sometimes think about clients outside of
sessions.
2️⃣ Trust is earned slowly- and we never take it lightly.
3️⃣ There are times when it feels difficult to only see someone for one hour a week when they’re carrying so much.
4️⃣ Sometimes I feel angry hearing how clients have been
treated by friends, family members, partners, or workplaces.
5️⃣ It can be hard to watch someone keep blaming themselves for things that were never their responsibility.
6️⃣ We don’t have all the answers- but being truly heard can be powerful.
7️⃣ We sometimes wish people could see themselves through the compassion they offer everyone else.
8️⃣ We feel proud when a client realises they no longer need our support in the same way.
Therapists are trained to be reflective, boundaried, and professional... but we’re also human!
