Confessions of a therapist...

1️⃣ Yes, we do sometimes think about clients outside of
sessions.

2️⃣ Trust is earned slowly- and we never take it lightly.

3️⃣ There are times when it feels difficult to only see someone for one hour a week when they’re carrying so much.

4️⃣ Sometimes I feel angry hearing how clients have been
treated by friends, family members, partners, or workplaces.

5️⃣ It can be hard to watch someone keep blaming themselves for things that were never their responsibility.

6️⃣ We don’t have all the answers- but being truly heard can be powerful.

7️⃣ We sometimes wish people could see themselves through the compassion they offer everyone else.

8️⃣ We feel proud when a client realises they no longer need our support in the same way.

Therapists are trained to be reflective, boundaried, and professional... but we’re also human!

Father’s Day can hold many emotions at once.

For some, it’s a day of celebration, gratitude, and connection. For others, it may bring grief, silence, or reflection on relationships that are complicated, distant, or no longer possible.

Days like today can highlight the many ways father figures shape our lives, while also reminding us of those who are absent or deeply missed.

This week would have also been my dad’s 60th birthday. His memory is one reason Father’s Day carries extra meaning for me, but I’m also mindful that everyone experiences this day differently.

Whether you’re celebrating a father, remembering one, missing someone, or finding today difficult for reasons others may not see, your experience is valid.

There is no “right” way to feel on Father’s Day.
No expectation that joy and sadness cannot coexist.

A little reminder to be gentle with yourself today 🤍

A reminder that life is not a project to optimise ❤️

Optimisation asks: “How can I get more from myself?”

Compassion asks: “What do I need right now?”

Therapy isn’t about becoming a perfectly optimised human being. It’s about creating a life that feels meaningful, sustainable, and connected. Sometimes that means growing. Sometimes it means slowing down.

Life is not only about becoming. It’s also about being.

Here’s a few little moments of joy- doing absolutely nothing productive, just enjoying time with people I care about (and lots of celebrating for special occasions!)

End of week reminder that growth doesn’t happen in isolation.

So grateful for who is the biggest cheerleader and makes showing up a lot easier!

The power of surrounding yourself with people who stand in your corner, show up, and believe in your progress should never be underestimated. ✨

Mental health treatment is more than what we see on the surface.

What actually holds healing together often lives quietly beneath- in the everyday, deeply human things we do to take care of ourselves and our emotional wellbeing. Healing is more often a hundred quiet choices- made imperfectly, made repeatedly, made with love for yourself.

Sometimes it’s about engaging in simple, meaningful activities with people who help us feel connected and supported.

My self-care and healing looks like movement, friendship, and taking time to invest in both.

Whether you are just beginning, somewhere in the middle, or simply curious- you deserve tools that meet you where you are.

The body remembers. It carries the tension in your shoulders, the shallow breath in your chest, the feeling deep within when something feels off - the body literally keeps the score.

But we often forget that our body doesn’t only hold the pain- it also holds the possibility of healing.

Our nervous system is not fixed in survival mode- it’s adaptive and responsive. Every deep breath, every safe connection, every moment of rest is a small gentle signal that rewrites the story your body tells itself. Just as your body remembered the fear, it can also remember safety.

Healing is not about erasing the past- it’s about showing your body new experiences of safety until they feel like home.

So if your body feels heavy today, please know that it also holds hope for repair.

A little reminder to look after yourself with every bit of compassion, kindness and care. 🤍✨
