I work with anger - a lot.

It’s very much a demonised emotion. Men are wary of being seen as overly aggressive. Women are told it’s not nice to express it.

Anger is the tip of an iceberg where so much more is going on. It’s good to explore it with support and non judgement.

Anger is one of those emotions that I feel often gets a bad reputation, seen as something that is destructive and needs to be 'managed'.

I like to re-frame it as a built-in alarm, alerting us and pointing towards something that has meaning. Maybe there are deep feelings lingering beneath it that perhaps need a little attention.

It can highlight when a boundary has been overstepped, when something feels unfair or misaligned, when our needs aren’t being met,
when we’ve said yes but meant to say no,
or when something important to us has been dismissed or overlooked.

It might also show up when we feel unheard, silenced or when we’ve been holding too much for too long.

Anger carries a powerful energy.
And if channeled, that energy that can help us take action, to speak up, to protect or to move toward what feels more right for us.

If we get curious, tune in to whats going on, anger can be such a valuable tool for change.

I have both a personal and professional interest in women’s health and neurodivergence.

So many clients who arrive in my room have been dealing with physical and emotional experiences that are often influenced by their hormones, neurodiverse traits and undiagnosed neurodivergence.

This traditionally has been largely unrecognised, undiagnosed and not validated.

Time to change

Elaine is a wonderful, warm and supportive facilitator of therapeutic writing. She provides such a safe and nourishing space to allow expression.

These workshops will be amazing 🤩

Join me for UNFURLING, a series of fortnightly writing for wellbeing workshops in Banchory this spring.

We will work alongside the energy of spring, thinking about emerging from the hibernation of winter and unfurling into the season of increasing light and new growth. Themes of fragility, renewal and resilience will be explored alongside a consideration of how these inform our sense of wellbeing.

I will provide a variety of poetic springboards alongside art prompts, visualisation, music, found objects, writing in the garden, and the labyrinth. Responses will be guided using free writing and other writing for wellbeing techniques to help you adventure into your thoughts and feelings.

No previous writing experience is necessary as the emphasis is on going with the flow and play. There is no ‘right or wrong’ when it comes to writing for wellbeing, just the creation of a safe place for you to try new things and explore your own unique way of expressing yourself.

Thursday mornings 9.30am – 12.30pm
Refreshments included
Maximum group size: 8 people

£234 for the series but also payable in 2 instalments

Places are limited so get in touch asap if you'd like to secure a place.

One of the ways that I work with a person is to listen to and utilise the body. It whispers to us, it shouts at us and we can befriend our body to help us too.
