This beautiful little fella, a long horned beetle I believe, who somehow got mixed up in my levigation jar and had an ochre burial. I am sad that he came to an unfortunate end but he looks splendid dusted in ochre pigment.

Up in the North West getting ready for our One Health Nature and Wellbeing Conference with Wildwood Days, Shine Coaching, Natural Academy. Towneley Hall is such a grand setting in beautiful grounds for the morning talks and Offshoots Permaculture Project is so alive with nature, a great informal setting for the afternoon workshops. We will be sharing all the brilliant work achieved by new Nature and Health facilitators locally as well as looking at good practice regionally and nationally using the NatureWell approach. We have a couple of free tickets available due to late cancellations so if you have chance to join us tomorrow do come, it's going to be a great day. I had to post a gazillion photos because they are all so lovely! Exploring a place through creating a palette of natural colours together. Such a joy to run this workshop at Dolgarrog Nature Reserve for North Wales Wildlife Trust and Lou Lin Cummins . Getting to know a place through the lens of these beautiful hues, connecting with nature, reflecting on heritage, history and ecological restoration. We were all wowed by the harmony of these colours, how perfectly they sit together. We had fun creating inks and dyes, and learning the basics, before bringing it all together in our own unique artists books. 🥰 (Plus Mary Thomas poster girl always looking gorgeous and arty out in the woods 😘) Photos

Reacquainting myself with the art of paper making in anticipation of another workshop for North Wales Wildlife Trust. As well as giving people joyful experiences of creating with natural materials I am also keen to marry creative nature based activities with concern for and action on environmental issues.

So we are talking about a day that would combine learning about the impact of Himalayan balsam on native flora, pollinators and riverbanks with some actual balsam bashing action. This would happen alongside an afternoon of paper making and creating inks from this abundant plant!

So 'work'-shop would take on an added meaning, encouraging people to also work on getting proactive in caring for nature alongside being creative, having fun and learning new skills. Win - Win. 💚

I am looking forward to running some nature and creativity sessions under a gorgeous willow tree at this event. We will be using ink made with Willow and be playing with reeds to make willowy, watery marks and patterns in simple little fold up art book. It's all free! I'd love to see you there.

Come along to Nature day at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay on Saturday 4th July from 11am – 3pm. Enjoy face painting, storytelling, hands-on nature activities and the chance to meet local wildlife and environmental organisations.

Unbelievably gorgeous. Three incredible natural colours from Coed Dolgarrog Nature Reserve. Connecting colour with place, people and nature. Ivy, bracken and nettle on recycled sari silk and cotton. My research for The Colours of Dolgarrog workshop for North Wales Wildlife Trust and The Gofod Glas project with Lou Lin Cummins. Photos from the weekend's workshop to follow soon. Lots of fun and fascination, working with natural colour is like opening the door to another world.
