I’ve finally got around to sharing some of the evaluation results from a boxing workshop I delivered for young women.
The workshop was all about building confidence, learning new skills and having a bit of fun while trying something different.
And the results were pretty awesome.
Average body confidence increased from 3.0 to 4.7 out of 5, which was a really encouraging result.
When we talked about the workshop, participants also identified things like strength, bravery, composure and feeling good about themselves.
One of my favourite parts of the session was asking everyone to create an image representing the confident part of themselves. It was really interesting to see what confidence looked like to each person and how differently they interpreted it.
I think this is one of the things I love most about boxing. It’s obviously a physical activity, but it can also be such a brilliant way of exploring confidence, resilience and what you’re capable of.
A big thank you to the charity who funded the workshop and to the school for making it possible.
And of course, thank you to everyone who took part and gave it a go. It was a pleasure to work with you all.
I’m really looking forward to seeing where this kind of work can go next.
