Last Wednesday I completed my Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health course with Jamie Farr at YourNorth Veteran Support.
Firstly, a massive thank you to Kelly Farr for reaching out and inviting me along. I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity.
As many of you know, mental health is something very close to my heart. There was a time when I was the one who needed help, and asking for that help changed my life. Because of that, I’m always looking to learn, develop, and better support the people who walk through the doors of Health Hwb and Hwb for Heroes.
This course was incredibly valuable, both personally and professionally. In a world where more and more people are struggling behind closed doors, understanding mental health and knowing how to support someone who may be having a difficult time is more important than ever.
A huge thank you to Jamie Farr for delivering such a brilliant course. His knowledge, experience, and the way he led the day made it engaging, informative, and easy to take so much away from.
I also want to recognise the fantastic work that Your North Veteran Support and the Female Veterans Alliance are doing for the veteran community. As someone who is still growing in this space and trying to make a difference through the work we do, organisations and people like this inspire me, give me confidence, and remind me why supporting others matters so much.
This course was provided free of charge, and I honestly can’t fault it. The knowledge I’ve gained today will stay with me and will certainly be used to help others moving forward.
Mental health is real.
Mental health matters.
And sometimes the most important thing we can do is ask someone a simple question:
“Are you okay?”
Thank you Jamie, Kelly, and the whole team. 🧡💙
