Am I a nurse? No.
Am I a doctor? No.
Am I any kind of medic? No.
Do I work with doctors and pharmacists? Yes.
Now I've got that out of the way, let's talk about what's actually important, shall we?! 😘
I have been fully qualified in the beauty and aesthetics industry for 23 years.
Firstly, I studied at The London College of Beauty Therapy to gain my NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Beauty Therapy.
I then went on to train in Permanent Make Up ( ) in Los Angeles with The Huntington Academy of Permanent Make Up and this is what held on to my heart.
I also studied for a BSc in Beauty Therapy with Management at Bradford University.
Following that, I went on to do lots of additional masterclasses and advanced courses.
My career took a little detour into teaching (with another visit to university!) but I have never left the beauty industry.
After long consideration recently, I decided I wanted to add another string to my bow and trained in aesthetics (check out my posts for some of my most recent courses and certificates).
There can be some awful stigma around non-medic aesthetics practitioners not being 'as good' as nurses or doctors, but this is not something I will entertain! I have trust and faith in my 23 years of experience in dealing with faces/bodies, needles, hygiene and most importantly, my clients.
I am fully qualified, fully insured, and I take the need for knowledge, safety and continuous learning very seriously (and I've got the certificates to prove it! 🤓). I can guarantee that I do everything in my power to ensure mine and my clients' safety at all times.
I am incredibly proud of my work and will always strive to be the best I can be. I think it's also important for people to stay in their own lane and to live and let live 🤎
If you are considering aesthetics treatments, here are a few things to look out for:
- Qualifications (ask to see certificates)
- Insurance (which includes medical malpractice)
- First aid, life support, and anaphylaxis training
- Unedited before and after photos
- A clean, sanitised environment.
- Sterile equipment & products
- Someone who takes consent forms and aftercare advice seriously
- Someone who listens to you and understands your needs.
If you made it to the end, thank you! 🤎
