Dr Lucy gets asked a lot about her skin and what she does.

And as far as she's concerned- the most important thing you can do is follow a good skincare regime as soon as your skin starts showing signs of ageing.

Her personal favourite: The Obagi Medical Prescription Nuderm system combined with Tretinoin. Not only does it keep fine lines at bay but it also keeps the dreaded pigmentation to a minimum which is the crucial bit for her.

"Sun damage often appears as brown spots on our skin as we age. Many people will even call these 'age spots' which sums it up. Sun damage is ageing. So if you can fade these areas of brown pigmentation, and soften fine lines, automatically- you're winning. The goal is never to look different- just good for our age".

Why I don’t always Anti-Wrinkle the forehead:

The frontalis is an elevating muscle — it’s what holds your brow (and often your upper eyelid) up.

Switch it off completely and some patients end up trading forehead lines for heaviness over the eyes. Not a good swap.

This is especially true for more mature patients, or anyone with a bit of natural hooding — it’s genetic for a lot of us, not a flaw.

So it’s often a compromise: a few expression lines vs. heavy eyes. And that’s exactly why the initial assessment matters so much — an experienced practitioner should be looking at your anatomy, not just applying a standard dose. Get it wrong and you can create problems that are hard to undo.
