GOLDEN SYRUP & CHIA SEED APPLE CRUMBLE 🍎✨
You just can’t beat a classic apple crumble… especially when it doubles up as a nourishing breakfast for the week ahead.
Made with our Golden Syrup & Chia Seed Superfood Porridge, the topping is perfectly crumbly with a delicious caramel-like sweetness, while also packing in fibre, healthy fats, plant protein and an added source of manganese to support energy and wellbeing. This version is warm, wholesome, comforting and couldn’t be easier to throw together.
You will need:
Apple base:🍎
-5 Bramley apples, peeled and sliced
-3 tbsp maple syrup
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-Cinnamon
Crumble topping:🥧
-2 cups (around 350g) Golden Syrup & Chia Seed Superfood Porridge
-3 tbsp nut butter
-3 tbsp maple syrup
-40g crushed pecans
-1 flax egg
-Pinch of salt
-Coconut yoghurt, to serve
Method:
-Preheat your oven to 160°C fan.
-Add the apples, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to an ovenproof dish and toss together. Press down slightly to create an even layer.
-In a mixing bowl, combine the porridge oats, nut butter, maple syrup, crushed pecans, flax egg, and a pinch of salt.
-Use your fingertips to rub everything together until you have a crumbly texture.
-Spoon the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
-Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden on top and soft underneath. If the crumble starts browning too quickly, loosely cover with foil towards the end.
-Leave to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Perfect warm from the oven as a dessert, or enjoyed in the morning with a big dollop of yoghurt for a breakfast that honestly tastes even better than the original 😌
