Singing for the Brain - Online! 🎶

Would you like to try our Singing for the Brain programme on Zoom?

We will be running a one-off online Singing for the Brain Zoom session for Positive Aging Month this October!

Our taster session will take place on Tuesday, October 20th, from 10.30am until 12.00 midday.

A third of people aged 65+ have a fall in their home each year. Over half of these are preventable.

To help guard against falls, check for:

✔ loose rugs or trailing wires
✔ poor lighting
✔ clutter in walkways
✔ slippery floors and steps

🏠If you're over 65, you can also avail of our Home Safety Check Scheme. This offers free home safety checks on all aspects of home safety, with the potential for free equipment, if eligible.

As part of , you can also drop into IKEA Belfast tomorrow (Wednesday 23 September), 10.30am to 1.30pm, to chat to our partners at Public Health Agency & Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and get more tips about preventing falls and staying agile.

Learn how to spot scams, get practical tips on fall prevention and home safety. In addition, there will be exhibitor stalls and a light lunch.

There is no need to book into the cafe, simply pop in for a warm and friendly environment with light refreshments provided.

South Belfast Health Capacity Worker & South Belfast Dementia Worker Sarah-Jane had the pleasure of attending the Queen's University Belfast Dementia: Caring for Today, Planning for Tomorrow Conference Tuesday past where she heard from a range of informative key speakers on World Alzheimer's Day 💜

It was great to get down to hear about the wide range of great work being done currently to help make Belfast a more dementia friendly city as well as networking with other dedicated workers in attendance.

National Eye Health Week (NEHW) is running from 21–27 September, promoting regular sight tests and healthy eye care. It is recommended you get your eyes tested every two years minimum so changes can be tracked. This year the focus is on dry eyes. Welcome to Dementia Friendly North Belfast 💜

This page is dedicated to sharing the work happening across North Belfast to support people affected by dementia.

Our community-led campaign brings together local businesses, community and voluntary organisations, schools, churches, libraries and residents who want to make a difference. People living with and affected by dementia are at the centre of this campaign, and their voices guide our priorities and activities.

We’re working towards a North Belfast where people living with dementia feel empowered, valued, safe and supported to live full and independent lives.

We’ll share local events and activities such as our Carers Café, Gentle Exercise Classes, Music & Art programmes and more. There will also be opportunities to learn more about dementia and how we can all play a part in creating a more inclusive community
