This gynae cancer awareness month we’re reminding women about the importance of attending for cervical screening.

Cervical screening can determine whether you have human papillomavirus (HPV) and changes in your cells that could go on to develop into cancer if left untreated. If you are aged between 25 and 64 it's important to book and attend for screening when invited.

If at any time you feel something isn't right, don’t wait, contact your GP.

We've published a new draft guideline on polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS.

You may know it by its previous name, polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS), which was updated in May 2026 to better reflect how the condition affects the whole body.

PMOS affects around 1 in 8 women in the UK. Despite this, many people wait years for a diagnosis, and the care they receive can be inconsistent.

Our draft guideline recommends that people with PMOS are offered an annual review to help monitor symptoms, medicines and risks of related conditions like diabetes and heart disease. It also includes new recommendations on diagnosis, mental health, fertility and more.

Sharon Manship, who has been living with PMOS for around 30 years and sat on the guideline committee, said: "My hope is that with this new guideline, people with PMOS will be taken seriously, diagnosed earlier and provided with evidence-based support and care from healthcare professionals from the outset."

The guideline is open for consultation until 11 August 2026.

It doesn't take much to improve your health with walking. About 150 minutes a week should do it. That's about 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. If you need to start with way less than that, don't worry. Even 5 minutes a day is better than none. If you want to do more than 30 minutes, great! Just work up to it slowly and talk to your doctor if you have an illness or don't know if you're healthy enough for exercise. https://wb.md/3VmdATC
