Do you think your metabolism has changed on GLP1s - whats your take on this?

CICO (kcals in kcals out) will always matter, in order to achieve fat loss you must be in kcal deficit. BUT the smaller you are and the smaller your muscles mass is… the smaller amount of kcals you will be able to eat. This makes maintence of your goal weight almost impossible if you lost a significant amount of muscle along the way because you’ll be forced into a situation where you have to live your life on a tiny amount of food!!

The only way to enjoy your food, acheive calorie balance for maintence and have a healthy body and metabolism as you age is to eat a high protien diet and lift weights x3 per week. It’s the boring advise we hear every day, but understaning WHY makes it so much easier to adhere to.

What other questions do you have on this?

There is A LOT of physiological nuance to this including hormones, inflammation, thyroid function etc so dont allow the concept of CICO discourage you, we are all individuals and getting this right will look different for each of us!

GLP1 is not the problem. Obesity is complex and heavily stigmatised, hence treatments like GLP1 medication are getting dragged through the muck.

I have seen coaches, allied health professionals and even some medics come out with outrageous statements regarding GLP1. None of which honour the nuance going on in the background.

I am merely scratching the surface in this video but I hope my opinion can broaden the perspective of those who take the time to listen.

Think about like this… GLP1 isn’t working instead of your body…it’s working with it.

Like a car engine, it needs petrol to turn on, oil to run smoothly, without these things? It wont work. If you arent giving your body the right ingredients then your GLP-1 won’t work either.

When you learn how to do this? You will move in harmony with your medication and that’s when the magic happens ✨

1ļøāƒ£ Start your metabolic engine with… Chicken, Eggs and Tofu

You know how when you add more fuel to the fire, the fire gets bigger and burns brighter? This is what protein does for your metabolism. The more protein you eat, the bigger the burn! We are talking 100-120g daily and YES! This is totally doable! Greek yogurt at breakfast, eggs, nuts for a snack, lean meats for lunch and dinner and a good protein shake. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

2ļøāƒ£ Keep the engine running with… a can of beans and some squats

Listen, GLP-1s are brilliant but they can’t really tell the difference between fat and muscle… they’ll take both if you let them. More muscle means you burn more calories while SLEEPING! No gym needed you can start with a can of beans in each hand and do some squats while you wait on the kettle boiling. DONE!

3ļøāƒ£ Oil the mechanics with… H20

Front-load your hydration in the morning. This isn’t just about drinking water, it’s about optimizing everything. Your medication absorbs better. Your digestion flows. And here’s the truth.. sometimes that gnawing feeling isn’t hunger at all, it’s THIRST in disguise.
