📢 CML Updates – Day 4: Biology & Translational Research

Our fourth iCMLf CML session summary from the EHA2026 Congress is now available, highlighting exciting advances in our understanding of CML biology and disease progression.

This session showcased how single-cell technologies and integrated genomic and transcriptomic analyses are helping to:

📢 CML updates from Congress: Day 3

Our latest iCMLf summary from the EHA2026 Congress highlights key takeaways from the Education Session on Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, featuring presentations by Mirle Schemionek, Satu Mustjoki and Delphine Réa.

Topics include:
🔹 The role of the bone marrow niche and inflammatory signalling in leukemic stem cell persistence
🔹 Immune surveillance and the contribution of NK cells to treatment-free remission
🔹 Individualised treatment selection and the future of precision medicine in CML

Together, these presentations emphasised the importance of moving beyond disease control and addressing the biological and clinical heterogeneity of CML on the path toward cure.

CML updates from Congress: Day 2 – Specialized Working Group

We're pleased to share the second iCMLf CML session summary from the EHA2026 Congress that highlights key takeaways from the Specialized Working Group on CML.

The Specialized Working Group session focused on one of the remaining challenges in CML: blast phase disease:

1️⃣ International registry data highlighted that outcomes in blast phase CML remain poor despite major advances in chronic phase treatment, underlining the continued importance of achieving a second chronic phase and proceeding to allogeneic transplantation whenever possible.

2️⃣ The session also explored how genomic abnormalities and chromosomal aberrations may help identify patients at increased risk of progression earlier, paving the way for more individualised and risk-adapted treatment strategies.

3️⃣ Finally, innovative patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models demonstrated how preclinical models can be used to investigate novel drug combinations and support the development of more personalised approaches for highly resistant disease.

We're pleased to share the first iCMLf CML session summary from the EHA2026 Congress that highlights key findings from the Oral Session on clinical CML, featuring updates on:

• Long-term ASC4FIRST results with asciminib
• Second treatment-free remission attempts from the ReStop and NAUT studies
• Asciminib-based combination approaches
• Early data on the novel BCR::ABL1 inhibitor ELVN-001

The session underscored continued progress towards deeper molecular responses, improved tolerability, and expanded opportunities for treatment-free remission.

📢 Help shape the first clinical recommendations for pediatric CML in low- and middle-income countries

The iCMLf and the I-BFM CML Working Group are developing the first dedicated clinical recommendations for managing pediatric CML in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Already, 31 clinicians from 19 countries across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Central Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and the Pacific have shared their experiences. The interim findings highlight both strong alignment with international treatment recommendations and the significant challenges many centres face, including limited access to second-generation TKIs, molecular monitoring, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
