tens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves you in to action. Coaching is powerful and helps you to connect with your true, natural self. You feel your life is more fulfilled and you can have the courage to pursue dreams which previously felt unattainable. You experience clarity of thought through talking to your coach without receiving judgement or advice. I take time work with you, creating a precious space for you to think and holding that space for you to set an inspiring goal, process your ideas, challenge your assumptions and try new patterns of behaviour – reaching your full potential. HOW do I do it? I offer a series of 6 coaching conversations at intervals appropriate to you (usually 4-6 wks) for 60-75 minute sessions over a period of 6-12 months. Together we will take time to unpack your current situation and then set an inspiring goal defining where you want to be in 6-12 months' time. In subsequent sessions we set milestones and work towards agreed actions, being curious along the way, celebrating successes and digging deep in the hard times, creating a challenging but supportive environment to enable you to reach your goal. WHO do I coach? I have worked with a wide variety of clients, but my passion is to support Mums to enable them to thrive, helping them to create a unique vision which will inspire and encourage them to become the best version of themselves. Fact – most compassionate people are also the most boundaried

This is according to guru Brene Brown’s research.

Clear boundaries keep resentment away, allowing them to maintain genuine compassion. Compassionate people ask for what they need and say no when necessary. When they say yes, they truly mean it. They recognise that maintaining appropriate boundaries prevents compassion fatigue and burnout. This ensures long-term ability to care for others. And finally, well-defined boundaries lead to healthier, more respectful interactions.

Feeling angry? It might be a boundary issue. 🤔

Anger, resentment, and frustration are often signals that a boundary has been crossed or needs to be set. When we don't establish clear limits, we risk overextending ourselves and feeling taken advantage of.

Take a moment to reflect:

• Where am I feeling resentful or frustrated?
• What expectations have I not communicated clearly?
• What do I need to say "no" to in order to protect my energy and well-being?

Setting boundaries is not about controlling others; it's about taking responsibility for your own needs and limits.

Setting boundaries isn't selfish; it's essential. As Brené Brown says,

"Boundaries are simply: what's okay and what's not okay".

Here's how boundaries can help you:

• Prevent resentment: Clearly defined boundaries can prevent the build-up of resentment towards family members.
• Promote self-respect: Setting boundaries communicates self-awareness and self-respect to yourself and others.
• Stand firm in your integrity: Boundaries help you maintain your integrity while remaining generous towards others.
• Reduce overwhelm: Establishing what you will and will not allow helps manage expectations and reduces feelings of being overwhelmed.

Remember, setting limits is an act of self-care that ultimately benefits the entire family.

I've loved seeing all the Mother's Day posts. It ties in with finishing up my posts on Grit. My mum has grit. Your kids see your grit and they will learn from it.

Sometimes grit is a struggle but actually there’s a lot of love and dedication in it.

Parenting – results aren’t instant – requires long term commitment, teaching, guiding and shaping your kids by your own actions. They watch how you handle a crisis.
The times you whisper ‘I can’t do this’ but you do it anyway.

Grit as a mum is not the loud flashy kind, it’s the quiet relentless kind. The kind that loves, even when it’s tired. The kind that never stops showing up.

Happy Mother's Day

What do you think having grit means?

Having grit means possessing relentless perseverance, resilience and passion for long-term goals, even in the face of obstacles, failures, or setbacks. It’s about showing up consistently, pushing through discomfort, and refusing to quit when things get tough.

I have found that being a business owner has required me to develop my grittiness!

Key traits of grit:
🔥 Perseverance – Sticking with something despite challenges or slow progress.
💡 Passion – A deep commitment to what you’re pursuing, not just fleeting motivation.
💪 Resilience – Bouncing back from failure and learning from mistakes.
🎯 Discipline – Taking action even when you don’t feel like it.
🚀 Long-term focus – Playing the long game instead of chasing instant gratification.

Grit isn’t about raw talent or luck—it’s about showing up, again and again, even when the process feels difficult.

Would you say you have grit in a certain area of your life?

How do you find your internal compass?

Finding your internal compass—your sense of direction, purpose, and authenticity—takes self-reflection, experimentation, and trust in yourself. Here are some ways to discover it:

1. Reconnect with Your Values
• What matters most to you? (eg, honesty, creativity, freedom, love, growth)
• Are your daily actions aligned with these values?

2. Listen to Your Gut
• Pay attention to how you feel when making decisions.
• Does something feel expansive and energising or restrictive and draining?

3. Reflect on Past Fulfilment
• When have you felt most alive or “in flow”?
• What were you doing? Who were you with?

4. Remove External Noise
• Spend time alone (journaling, meditating, or just being).
• Disconnect from external expectations (family, society, social media).

5. Experiment & Course Correct
• Try new things and pay attention to what resonates.
• Don’t be afraid to change paths if something feels off.

6. Trust Yourself
• Your internal compass isn’t always loud—it might feel like a subtle nudge.
• The more you trust and follow it, the stronger it becomes.

What’s your gut telling you lately?

Mine is saying "slow down and notice the micro-joys of life".

When the weight of being a mum feels too heavy…….

remember that each difficult moment is shaping you into a more resilient, powerful version of yourself.

Here's my latest short blog on the topic of Grit for the overwhelmed Mum.

Being a mum is a marathon, not a sprint. Between managing busy schedules, meals, school forms, homework, and the constant emotional task of parenting, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and stretched thin. The mental load is real, but so is your resilience. Thomas Paine once said, “Every c...

Having an internal compass as a mum isn't just a luxury—it's a necessity.

Angela Duckworth's wisdom rings true: you need ONE clear direction that guides all your decisions.

Think of your internal compass like a reliable GPS through the chaos of motherhood. It's not about having multiple competing goals, but about having a single, consistent purpose that helps you navigate daily challenges.

Your internal compass helps you distinguish between what truly matters and what's just noise. It helps you navigate life’s challenges by aligning with your core values, goals and authentic self. It’s a deeply personal mechanism for decision making and self-understanding.

Remember, enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare. Your internal compass will help you persist through the inevitable ups and downs of motherhood.

So take a moment today: What is your ONE guiding purpose? Let that be your internal compass.

If you’d like to do some more work on this, drop me a message and we can set up a free no obligation mum to mum chat.

Persistence pays off: the long game of motherhood. During March I am focusing on the topic of grit.

As busy mums, we juggle a million things—work, kids, home, and everything in between. It’s easy to feel impatient when progress is slow, whether in our careers, parenting or personal goals. But real success comes from endurance, not just enthusiasm.

Angela Duckworth, in her book Grit, said it best: “Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare.”

It’s not about quick wins but showing up, day after day, even when it's hard. Keep going, keep growing—your persistence will pay off.

Persistence as a mum pays off in countless ways—both in the small, everyday moments and the big-picture journey of raising resilient, happy children.

Here’s how:

Building stronger bonds
Even on the toughest days, consistently showing up with love, patience and understanding, strengthens your connection with your kids. They remember your presence more than perfection.

Teaching resilience by example
Kids learn by watching us. When they see us pushing through challenges—whether in work, relationships, or personal growth—they learn that setbacks aren’t failures but stepping stones.

Navigating tough phases
From sleepless nights with a newborn to teenage struggles, persistence helps us stay calm and committed. These phases pass, but the effort we put in shapes their future.

Personal growth & fulfilment
Motherhood tests our patience, strength and endurance. By sticking with it—despite the chaos—we grow into stronger, more compassionate versions of ourselves.
Success as a mum isn’t about getting it all right—it’s about showing up, day after day, even when it’s hard. That’s where the magic happens. ✨💪

How has persistence paid off in your motherhood journey?

Morning matters: small habits, big impact

Current Positive Mental Fitness Bootcamp participant, Alex, prioritises mindful mornings. Before the lights even come on, she:

🌿 Engages in PQ reps by feeling the texture of her bedsheets and focusing on her breath;

🌅 When the curtains open, she enjoys the visual PQ reps of morning light;

🐶 When her dog jumps on the bed, she takes a moment to appreciate his warmth and softness.

For Alex, these techniques started years ago when she made an intentional choice—a short commute, an early bedtime, and a mindful morning routine.

Creating Your Own Morning Ritual

You don’t need hours to build a routine that supports your well-being. Just a few small, mindful moments—a deep breath, a pause for gratitude, a conscious stretch—can shift your mindset and set you up for success.

How will you start your day tomorrow?

The power of presence: A habit-building journey for busy mums

As a busy mum, your day is often packed from the moment you wake up. But what if the way you start your morning and the daily habits you activate during the could set the tone for a calmer, more focused, and fulfilling day?

In my current Positive Mental Fitness Pod, we’ve been working on exactly that—building strong, healthy habits to improve mental well-being.

Pod member, Rachel, has transformed her presence by incorporating small, intentional habits that make a big difference. She:
✅ Starts her day with gratitude before even getting out of bed
✅ Feels thankful before eating or drinking anything
✅ Uses the Pomodoro method to boost productivity, filling her breaks with short Positive Intelligence (PQ) reps
✅ Listens to birdsong, gradually identifying more species
✅ Notices and admires new plants and tree buds
✅ Allows herself a nap when needed
✅ Puts her phone away after 9 PM for better sleep
✅ Reads for at least two minutes before bed
✅ Tells her loved ones how much she appreciates them

Her approach aligns beautifully with the quote:

"Look past your thoughts, so you may drink the pure nectar of THIS MOMENT."

Note: a PQ rep is 10 seconds of doing something mindfully using one of your 5 senses.

My focus this month on social media is HABITS. Each day this week I will be suggesting four or five healthy habits for a different area of your life.

Day 5 - Healthy habits for work

Prioritise managing your time – use tools like to do lists, time blocking, minimise distracts and stay focused to work effectively

Take regular breaks – set an alarm to remind you to take a break, follow the Pomodoro Technique, chat to a colleague

Practice mindfulness to manage stress – incorporate deep breathing or take a short walk to maintain mental clarity

Stay hydrated – have a bottle of water on your desk and eat nutritious snacks to sustain energy levels throughout the day.
