Stressful circumstances lead to resource loses e.g conflict, drains energy, takes time to deal with distract from tasks. More favourable conditions lead to resource gain e.g feedback, increase self esteem, (Hobfoll 1989)

A resource is anything important to the person these can be personal resources. e.g. values or personal traits or environmental resources evident in the job e.g autonomy, feedback, rewards and social support (appraisal treat system). In contrast Lazarus transactional model interest in the ‘Why’ people appraise in particular event .

To combat, the impact of stress on resources people should look at their decision latitude freedom within the teams.

Secondary intervention, is to look at strain level of job emotional demand and people ability to cope with the relatedness, trustworthiness and openness of the team.

Stress experienced by individual can be understood in relation to potential or actual loss of resources. If you have contact with difficult team members or managers it will contribute to emotional job demand. Job resources which is motivation may buffer the impact of job demand strain.

Team dynamic is a primary stressor. As Individuals we respond differently and on average may find it easy to manage and navigate our internal ability to adapt to job demand, but add the fear of covid 19 and remote working, our motivation is depleting and work engagement is suffering.
