A walk might feel relaxing for some, but for someone with sensory sensitivities, there can be a lot to notice!๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‚

From traffic and birds to bright sunlight and unexpected noises- the world around us can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Remember, there's no 'right' way to enjoy a walk. Small adjustments can make a big difference๐Ÿ’š

A Secret Sensory Circuit is a series of sensory activities that children can do whilst sitting at a desk or table. They're ideal for children who don't want to be singled out as needing extra support, or for times when getting up isn't practical, such as during lessons, exams, homework or even mealtimes at home.

These activities can help children regulate their bodies, feel calmer, and improve attention and focus - all without drawing attention to themselves. Watch the video below for a Secret Sensory Circuit idea you can try at home with your child this summer!

Last week, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust directors visited Springfield Primary Academy in Moseley to see first-hand how a partnership with our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Therapy team is making a big difference for pupils. ๐Ÿ™Œ

In partnership with the SEND Therapy Team, the school has developed a suite of additional support for children with identified needs around, for example, toileting, feeding or emotional/behavioral regulation.

To find out more about the visit and to find out what FREE training is available to Local Authority mainstream settings, private, voluntary, independent (PVI) settings, childminders and Local Authority nursery schools within Birmingham click the post to find out more.
