Chronic lower back pain is common, but a specialist assessment changes the outcome. At Active Motion Physiotherapy we identify the specific movement drivers behind pain, not just the symptoms. We use targeted tests to pinpoint weakness, stiffness and altered movement patterns. From there we combine manual therapy with personalised exercise plans and load management to restore mobility and reduce reliance on pain medication. With elite-sport experience and outcomes-focused approach, we track progress and adapt treatment until function returns. 🏌️‍♂️ What is Golfer’s Elbow?

Golfer’s elbow (also known as medial elbow tendinopathy) is a condition that causes pain on the inside of the elbow, often linked to irritation of the tendons that help bend the wrist and grip objects.

Despite the name, you don’t have to play golf to develop it! 🙌

🔎 Common symptoms:
✔️ Pain or tenderness on the inside of the elbow
✔️ Pain with gripping, lifting, or twisting
✔️ Weakness in the hand or forearm
✔️ Stiffness after activity

⚠️ Risk Factors
✔️ Repetitive gripping or wrist movements
✔️ Gym training or racquet sports
✔️ Sudden increases in activity/load
✔️ Poor recovery between activities
✔️ Reduced tendon strength/capacity
✔️ Metabolic factors such as diabetes & high cholesterol
✔️ Stress, poor sleep & smoking

💪 How can you manage it?
✔️ Modify aggravating activities temporarily
✔️ Progressive strengthening exercises
✔️ Improve grip & forearm capacity
✔️ Gradual return to sport/work
✔️ Address sleep, stress & overall health
✔️ Physiotherapy guidance for long-term recovery

✔️ Thorough assessment & diagnosis

✔️ Manual therapy where appropriate
✔️ Advice on load management & recovery
✔️ Injection therapy options if clinically indicated

Knee pain doesn’t mean the end of an active life 👇

Knee osteoarthritis is one of the most common causes of knee pain—but there’s still a lot of confusion (and a few myths) around it.

👉 It’s NOT just “wear and tear”
👉 Rest isn’t always the answer
👉 Movement, done right, is powerful medicine

With the right guidance, you can reduce pain, build strength, and keep doing the things you enjoy 💪

At Active Motion Physiotherapy, we help you move better, feel stronger, and stay active—without fear.

We see pain differently at Active Motion. If back, neck or shoulder pain limits your day, we treat it as a movement problem—not inevitable ageing. I use an evidence-based, patient-centred assessment led by Art Lazaridis to find what stops movement and what restores it. A simple diagnostic question we ask is: “Can you move through the range you need for daily tasks?” That directs targeted treatment and measurable gains, like improved range of motion and lower pain scores. Birmingham residents: regain function and faster relief with clear, expert care. Book an assessment: https://wix.to/ud3xXrO

Back pain doesn’t mean your body is “wearing out.”

A lot of people are told their spine is degenerating, fragile, or full of “wear and tear” — and it’s no surprise that creates fear around movement.

But here’s the truth 👇Your body is constantly adapting. It’s not just wear and tear… it’s wear and repair.

Research shows that so-called “degenerative” changes are actually very common — even in younger people with no pain at all. Things like disc bulges or age-related changes often show up on scans, but they don’t automatically mean damage or danger.

Pain is real — but it doesn’t always equal harm.

What matters more is how your body moves, adapts, and builds resilience over time 💪

You’re not fragile.Your back is stronger than you think.

If you’ve been holding back because of fear or a diagnosis, you’re not alone — but you can move forward with the right support.

📩 Drop me a message if you want help getting back to confident movement.

🦵 What is Hip Dysplasia?

Hip dysplasia is a condition where the hip socket doesn’t fully cover the ball of the joint, which can lead to:
✔️ Hip or groin pain
✔️ Clicking or catching sensations
✔️ Stiffness or reduced movement
✔️ Increased risk of early joint wear over time

It can be present from a young age or develop symptoms later in life — especially with activity.

🔎 Risk Factors
✔️ Family history / genetics
✔️ Female s*x
✔️ High-impact or repetitive loading activities
✔️ Joint hypermobility
✔️ Muscle weakness around the hip

💪 How can physiotherapy help?
Physio plays a key role in managing symptoms and improving function:

✔️ Strengthening the hip (glutes + deep stabilisers)
✔️ Improving movement control & stability
✔️ Reducing joint overload
✔️ Activity modification (not stopping, but adapting!)
✔️ Building confidence in movement

🧠 Other management options
✔️ Load management & activity planning
✔️ Pain management strategies
✔️ Lifestyle factors (sleep, general fitness)
✔️ Injection therapy in some cases
✔️ Surgical opinion if symptoms are persistent or severe

✨ Early management is key — the right plan can help you stay active and reduce long-term issues 🙌
