✨FOCUS ON FRANKINCENSE✨

Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) has been valued for centuries, both in skincare and aromatherapy, and it’s easy to see why it remains such a popular ingredient today.

In skincare, frankincense is known for its toning and soothing properties and can help leave the skin feeling smooth, balanced and cared for. It is particularly lovely in products designed for more mature skin; such as our Neal's Yard Remedies Organic Frankincense collections, where nourishing and supporting the skin’s appearance becomes increasingly important.

Frankincense has a beautiful warm, woody aroma. In aromatherapy, frankincense is often used to encourage a sense of calm and relaxation, making it a lovely choice for an evening skincare ritual. I am currently using the NYRO Triple Action Frankincense Intense Cleanser, particularly useful in the evening to remove make-up and build-up from the day. I rub a little on my hands then briefly breathe in that lovely aroma, before massaging the thick gel into my dry skin. You will notice, that the gel changes into an oily texture as you massage which easily lifts off make-up residue. I add a little warm water to my fingertips and continue to massage into my skin, this emulsifies the oil into a creamy milk which rinses off with a splash of warm water leaving my skin smooth without any hint of dryness.

I also like the Rejuvenating Frankincense Cleanser, (check out the new, streamlined packaging!). This has a lovely , creamy texture with the same soothing aroma. It contains nourishing baobab seed oil and cocoa butter and soothing aloe vera extract. Massage a little into dry skin, then simply remove with a damp muslin cloth or rinse skin with a splash of water .

This month we are showcasing Tea Tree essential oil. As you can see, it has many useful properties and uses.
To create your kitchen spray mix 120ml white vinegar with 180ml water and add 15-20 drops of tea tree essential oil in a clean spray bottle. Shake well and use on kitchen work tops (not metal).
To create a 1% essential oil blend with either the Neal's Yard Remedies' Organic Create products, mix in a ratio of 2-4 drops essential oil to 10ml of carrier product (ointment/hair & bodywash).
