We’re delighted to be opening up spaces at our Love to Move sessions to the local community here at Verwood House Care Home.

Love to Move is a gentle, cognitive-enhancing exercise programme designed especially for older adults, including those living with conditions such as dementia, stroke, MS and Parkinson’s. The sessions are fun, inclusive, and focus on improving coordination, mobility and overall wellbeing.

Great to be invited to join a networking event with Community Switch and Crane Valley Primary Care Network today.

Some brilliant people there to chat with about what they do and to explain where dementia friendly Love to Move sessions are available to community members in the area.

This is a really good explanation of why I believe participating in the British Gymnastics Foundation Love to Move programme is so important! To meet people where they are today and give them the best opportunity to maintain their current levels whilst having a good opportunity for socialising and having fun in a supportive environment.

Shout out to the team Parley Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare

Whenever any staff need to walk past the area we are holding our weekly Love to Move session, they always join in as they move through. Members from housekeeping, catering, maintenance and admin, even the GM have all been seen doing the Hokey Cokey etc!

It all adds to the fun and the residents love it. Thank you

To celebrate we are inviting past and present participants or their families to join us for tea on 13 June.

Absolutely agree with this report today!

Love to Move Dorset has had a few referrals from Social Prescribers recently and we can see the difference being socially and physically active can make. It has to appropriate to the level of the individual to bring the most benefit and that is where British Gymnastics Foundation Love to Move is great, as it is specifically designed for older people especially those living with dementia and it gives people an opportunity to still take part and feel good about it!

Physical activity should be at the heart of the NHS’s support for older people and is as important as providing medication, a report by the Health and Social Care Committee says.

Thanks to the Activities Manager at Summerhill Care Home for practicing between sessions. It's amazing the difference it makes. I was so impressed when your resident asked about doing the "Can-Can" as they had been practicing it.
But I forgot to film it!! Maybe next time 😉
