So… what are you not saying? 👀

The thing you’re worried sounds ridiculous.
The thing you’re scared people will judge you for.
The thing you’ve been quietly carrying around.

You don’t have to tell me. But maybe it’s time you told someone.

Shame keeps us stuck. Talking gives us somewhere to start. 🧡

What if your future self isn’t judging you… but thanking you? 🥹

We put so much pressure on ourselves to be further ahead. To have achieved more. To have started sooner. To know what we’re doing by now.

But what if your future self isn’t looking back and thinking, “You should have done better”? What if they’re thinking ”Thank you for keeping going.”?

This week’s episode of Coffee & Courage is a little reminder that you don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to do everything perfectly. You just need to keep showing up.

I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to have one big breakthrough.

The big opportunity. The big decision. The big moment that changes everything.

But looking back… the biggest changes in my life have come from lots of tiny, ordinary decisions repeated over time.

One conversation. One podcast. One painting. One workout. One blog post. One step.

Your dream life probably won’t be built in one extraordinary day. It’ll be built in hundreds of ordinary ones.

☕ Episode 24 of Coffee & Courage is out now if you’d like to hear the full conversation.

This week I’ve been told to relax…

…by an app.

…by the man giving me a pedicure.

…and yesterday by my friend, who took my little boy off to build sandcastles so I could just sit on the beach and sip on an iced latte for a while.

Three completely unrelated reminders. And every single time my instinct has been the same:

“But I should be doing something.”

It made me realise something. I don’t actually know how to relax anymore. Not properly.

I’ve become so used to thinking, planning, solving and carrying things that stopping almost feels uncomfortable.

Maybe that’s the lesson I’m being given this week. Not to become more productive. Not to push harder. Just to remember that rest isn’t something we have to earn.

Sometimes it’s okay to let someone else hold things for a little while. Sometimes it’s okay to just sit, look at the sky, listen to the waves… and trust that the world will keep turning.

I’ve spent so much of my life waiting to feel “ready.”

Ready to make the move. Ready to take the leap. Ready to trust myself.

But what if we’re waiting for a feeling that never actually arrives?

Maybe courage isn’t about feeling ready. Maybe it’s about taking the first step anyway.

We often assume we have to choose.

This or that. Right or left. Sensible or creative. But while I was finishing this piece, I was reminded that sometimes neither of the obvious options is quite right.

I tried one rune. It didn’t feel right. I tried another. Still not quite right. Then I realised… What if I stopped asking which one was right? What if the answer wasn’t choosing between them… but combining them?

It made me wonder how often we do this in life. We tell ourselves there are only two options. But maybe that’s just because they’re the only two we’ve considered so far. Sometimes the third option only appears because you’re willing to explore the first two.

Sometimes the answer isn’t choosing. Sometimes it’s creating something new. 🧡

What if you spoke to yourself the way you speak to the people you love?

I’m still working on this…

I catch myself expecting perfection from me in ways I’d never expect from anyone else. And then I stop and think… Why?

Why are we so much kinder to everyone else than we are to ourselves?

This clip is a little reminder that you’re human. You won’t always get it right. I certainly don’t!

But maybe the goal isn’t perfection. Maybe it’s learning to meet yourself with a little more compassion each time.

Have you ever looked around and thought “How does everyone else seem to know what they’re doing?”

I’ve caught myself feeling like that more times than I can count. Then I came across a quote that made me stop:

“I don’t know how to act my age. I’ve never been this age before.”

And honestly… that’s true!

I’ve never been 36 before. I’ve never been a mum to a three-year-old before. I’ve never built a business, launched a podcast or learned Pinterest before. So why do I expect myself to already have all the answers?

Maybe the uncertainty isn’t proof that you’re failing. Maybe it’s proof that you’re growing. Maybe you’re not behind at all. Maybe you’re just living a part of your life you’ve never lived before.

The biggest surprise wasn’t that I created a portrait. It was that I enjoyed creating a portrait of myself.

There was a time when I couldn’t look in the mirror with kindness. Now I’ve spent hours outlining my own face, covering it in flowers, butterflies and glitter… and the whole process just made me smile 🙌✨

Sometimes healing isn’t a dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes it’s quietly noticing that you’ve started treating yourself with more love and kindness than you used to. 🖼️🎨🧡
