This week Iâve been told to relaxâŚ
âŚby an app.
âŚby the man giving me a pedicure.
âŚand yesterday by my friend, who took my little boy off to build sandcastles so I could just sit on the beach and sip on an iced latte for a while.
Three completely unrelated reminders. And every single time my instinct has been the same:
âBut I should be doing something.â
It made me realise something. I donât actually know how to relax anymore. Not properly.
Iâve become so used to thinking, planning, solving and carrying things that stopping almost feels uncomfortable.
Maybe thatâs the lesson Iâm being given this week. Not to become more productive. Not to push harder. Just to remember that rest isnât something we have to earn.
Sometimes itâs okay to let someone else hold things for a little while. Sometimes itâs okay to just sit, look at the sky, listen to the waves⌠and trust that the world will keep turning.
