If your brain feels busy at night, your evening might be too noisy.

Your mind doesn’t just switch off - it winds down.

Try a digital sunset.
Switch off screens an hour before bed.

Less stimulation helps your nervous system shift out of high-alert and into a calmer state - similar to the one we use in hypnotherapy.

It’s not about discipline.
It’s about giving your mind space to settle.

Could you switch off a little earlier tonight?
Try it for a few nights and notice if you feel a difference.

Stress doesn’t just appear out of nowhere.

It builds...quietly, gradually, through small things adding up.
And it can be reduced in the same way.

Over the past month, we’ve looked at some simple ways to begin easing that load.
Ways to help your mind and body feel a little more steady.

If any of this has felt familiar, you’re not alone.
And you don’t have to work it all out by yourself.

This is the space where that work begins.
Calm. Unrushed. Supportive.
A place to understand what’s been building.
And begin to feel a little more in control again.

Nothing forced. nothing overwhelming.
Just steady, supported change.

If you’re ready for things to feel a little more manageable, get in touch for an informal chat.
I offer a free, no-obligation consultation to see if hypnotherapy is right for you.

When the gap between where you are and where you want to be feels too big, it can stop you starting at all.

When we think about feeling more confident or more in control - how far we have to go can feel overwhelming.
And that pressure against a big goal can actually make it harder for your system to feel safe enough to change.

In sessions, we don’t focus on the endpoint - we focus on the next step.
The next choice. The next small shift.
Because change doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens gradually, in a way your mind and body can work with.

Hypnotherapy supports that process - helping change feel more manageable, rather than forceful or exhausting.
It’s okay to move slowly.
It’s okay to take one step at a time.
In fact, that’s exactly how lasting change is built.

If this approach feels more manageable, contact me for a free no-obligation consultation.

If your stress levels feel up and down, it’s often the small things that help most.

As Stress Awareness Month comes to a close, I wanted to share some simple stress-busters that help keep your nervous system steady.

They don’t need to be big or complicated - it could be:
- a walk
- a laugh with a friend
- a hobby or something you enjoy
- a cuddle with a pet, or a person

For me, most mornings start with 10 minutes of yoga and a moment of gratitude.
Not dramatic - but this is something I can consistently do most days.

When you pause to notice one good thing - the sun, a nice coffee, a moment of calm - your brain begins to register it. This triggers dopamine and builds a 'reserve of achievements'.

Over time, consistent habits helps build a sense of progress and steadiness.
Small moments like these aren’t insignificant.
They’re what a more balanced way of living is built on.

Whar's one thing that bought you a moment of calm today?
Notice it, build on it, and remember: each grain of success is what a balanced life is built on.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is accept a little support.

In a recent class with my yoga teacher, Sue, we moved our practice from the centre of the room to the wall.
The wall wasn't a 'crutch' - it was a support system. It allowed us to hold poses with more stability and less strain, making the practice kinder to our bodies.

During the session, Sue introduced a mindful framework called 'The Three Gates'.
Before we allow a thought to take root - especially that nagging inner critic or imposter syndrome -we ask:
Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?

When we are self-critical, our nervous system often reacts with tension in the body - a physical tightening that signals 'threat' to the brain.
By choosing a kinder way to move (like using the wall) or a kinder way to think (using the Three Gates), we signal safety to our body.

When the body feels supported and safe, the mind can finally move out of survival mode and into a state of growth.

Whether it’s a yoga wall or a hypnotherapy session, having a support system in place isn't a sign of weakness - it’s how we create the stability needed for lasting change.

If you're near Braintree, I highly recommend Sue’s classes at The Healing Tree. She is mindful of all abilities and moves at a pace that allows everyone to find their own steady ground.

Do you take control of my mind?

This is a common question I hear about hypnotherapy.
And the answer is no.

Hypnotherapy works with focused attention - a state you naturally move in and out of throughout the day.
It’s similar to becoming absorbed in a book, a film, or a daydream.

You remain aware.
You remain in control.
You can come out of it at any point.
Nothing is done to you.
It’s a collaborative process.

Many people are unsure what hypnotherapy actually involves.

If you’ve been feeling the urge to reset or change habits lately, it’s not random.

I love Spring. There’s a special kind of energy in the trees - the quiet, persistent work of new growth appearing after Winter.

I’ve been thinking that our brains operate in a similar way.
That urge to spring clean, to sort things out or change habits, isn’t just a whim.
It’s an opportunity to work with your brain’s natural ability to adapt and change.

Just as trees begin to grow new shoots, your brain is capable of forming new pathways.
When we repeat a helpful thought or action, those pathways begin to strengthen.
Over time, as we focus on these new patterns, the old ones begin to fade into the background.
Nature doesn’t force growth. It creates the right conditions for it to happen.

Hypnotherapy works in a similar way.
It helps create a calm, safe environment where your mind can begin to shift in a more supportive direction.

If you’d like support creating the conditions for change, feel free to get in touch for an informal chat.

If you feel anxious or can’t sleep, it’s not because you’re doing something wrong.

It’s more common than you might think.
When anxiety or sleep feels difficult, it can seem like your body is working against you.
It’s natural to feel frustrated - or even wonder why you can’t just calm down.
But this isn’t a failure. It’s often your system trying to protect you.

As one client shared, understanding why your brain is doing what it’s doing can be the first step towards change.
In sessions, we don’t just focus on symptoms - we look at how your mind and body are responding.
When things start to make sense, the experience often shifts.
It stops feeling confusing or out of control, and begins to feel more understandable.
That understanding alone can help the body begin to soften.

Anxiety reduces when your system feels safe enough to come out of high alert.
Sleep improves when the mind no longer feels the need to keep scanning for problems.
You’re not fixing something that’s broken.
You’re helping your brain learn a steadier, calmer way to respond.

If this resonates and you’d like to understand it more clearly, feel free to get in touch for an informal chat.

If your mind won’t switch off at night, your stress bucket might be full.

Imagine you have a 'stress bucket'.
Every worry, task, and frustration goes into it.
If it gets too full, it overflows into anxiety or exhaustion.

But you have a built-in way of emptying that bucket - REM sleep.
During REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, your brain processes the events of the day, moving them from the emotional 'survival' brain to the logical 'narrative' brain.
This is how we 'sleep on it' and feel better in the morning.
If you’ve been losing sleep, your bucket may be staying full.

Hypnotherapy helps you access that calm state to keep your stress bucket emptied and your sleep patterns working for you.

Message me if you'd like an informal chat to see how hypnotherapy could help you.

Bailey has a habit of stopping mid-walk… and just lying down.

No urgency. No need to keep going. Just a pause.
I used to feel frustrated. Now I see those moments differently.

For Bailey, it’s rest before continuing.
For me, it’s a chance to slow down, look around, and be present.

Pauses aren’t wasted time - they’re part of recovery.
They allow the body to step out of constant 'busyness' and reset.
We often override those signals. Push a little further. Finish one more thing.
But the body often recognises the need for rest earlier than the mind does.
Pausing doesn’t reduce progress - it supports it.
Rest is productive.

Be like Bailey - allow a few extra pauses today.
Notice if you feel a difference.
