😴 Let's talk baby sleep...
Baby sleep can be one of the things parents hear the most opinions about.
"Have you tried...?"
"They should be sleeping through by now."
"Mine slept through at 8 weeks!"
"You just need to get them into a routine."
And sometimes, all those opinions can leave you wondering whether your baby's sleep is "normal".
The truth is, babies don't all sleep the same way. 🤍
Some babies wake frequently.
Some sleep for longer stretches.
Some love a routine.
Others seem to change their routine every few days!
There is no prize for the baby who sleeps through the earliest.
What matters most is keeping sleep as safe as possible. 🌙
🤍 Always place baby on their back to sleep.
🤍 Keep their sleep surface firm, flat and clear of pillows, duvets, toys and other loose or soft items.
🤍 Keep baby from getting too hot.
🤍 Keep smoke and va**ng away from baby's sleep environment.
🤍 Never fall asleep with baby on a sofa or armchair.
🤍 If you're co-sleeping, make sure you know the safer-sleep guidance and avoid it if you've been drinking alcohol, smoking, or taking medication or drugs that cause drowsiness.
And remember, waking during the night is a normal part of infancy.
So if you're currently in the middle of those broken nights, you're not failing.
Your baby isn't failing.
And you aren't doing anything wrong. 🤍
How is your baby's sleep going at the moment? We'd love to remind each other that we're not alone in this! 👇
