Quick note: the 60% figure is from Bain & Company research on zero-click search. Organic traffic to websites is estimated to have dropped 15–25%. This isn't a prediction — it's already happened.
"I'm too old for all this online stuff."
I hear this almost every week from people, who want to start something of their own.
Here's what's funny.
Right now the professional marketers are having a meltdown about exactly the same thing.
There are threads all over Reddit — hundreds of comments — all saying the same sentence:
"SEO in 2026 feels completely different."
And they're right.
Google doesn't send the traffic it used to. Roughly 60% of searches now end without anyone clicking a single website. The AI answers the question right there on the screen.
So who is panicking?
The people who built everything on tricks. Keyword stuffing. Backlink games. 400 blog posts written by a robot that nobody ever read.
That whole industry is quietly falling apart.
And here is the part almost nobody is saying out loud:
What replaces it is TRUST.
AI recommends sources it believes. Real experience. A real name. A real face. Real opinions from someone who has actually done the thing they're talking about.
Which means the advantage has swung back to people like you.
Your 22 years in nursing. Your 15 years managing difficult people. Your decade running a household on almost nothing and making it work.
You cannot fake that. A 24-year-old with a laptop and a clever tool cannot copy it.
The game just changed from "who can outsmart the algorithm" to "who is genuinely worth listening to."
When I arrived in London I had no English, no money and no connections. I was picking vegetables off the floor of Upton Park market.
What I did have was a willingness to learn.
That's still the only entry requirement. It always was.
So no — you're not too late. You're not too old. And you don't need to be "good with technology."
You need something to say, and someone to show you how to say it where people are listening.
If you're over 45 and you've been quietly wondering whether it's still worth starting…
This is the best window I've seen in 20 years.
