Wow! I just had another incredible experience with the mamas and daughters in the Devon community, and I adore them all. This time, I was joined by my beloved sister and apprentice, Jane Devin. She is a powerful force of Mother Earth, stepping in as a younger sister to continue this important work. I am so grateful to have her as my apprentice and for her willingness to immerse herself in everything that has been birthed through the Map of Womanhood School.
As some of you know, I am nearing the end of my time participating in the in-person lodges of mamas and daughters who have followed my programs—there are too many to count now. I am preparing to pass on my legacy to the incredible younger sisters who are at the threshold of their own journeys into the village of mothers of adolescent girls. This transition creates a profound space within me, paving the way for the establishment of the Sanctuary and The Sunheart Temple School in Portugal.
This weekend, Jane and I worked together with the mamas and daughters of one of the girls' lodge, which has been meeting once a month for four years. Our time together was sublime! We held a Rites of Passage ceremony to honor the girls' first blood, and we acknowledged the mothers while letting go into the fire. This allowed us to reimagine the mother-daughter relationship as the girls step into the sense of self they have built over the past four years within the lodge. This sense of self has been the preparation for the teenage years as a spiritual quest and has been informed by all the mothers who committed to the program
The journey of the girls was marked with ceremony, representing a deep dive into the spiritual quest of the teenage years that lies ahead for them. We welcomed them into the Red Tent, alongside their mothers, witnessing this beautiful transition.
Seeing the girls now and how they have changed and grown since I first met them 4 years ago is so beautiful. I am so so proud of them. I am so so proud of the mamas who are so committed to the program, who trust my work and who welcomed Jane into the role of witnessing them all. These mothers are epic and what they have done for their daughters is going to bear fruit as they change. That will change the culture of holding that our daughters need from us all before they hit the teenage years.
Thank you thank you thank you to all mothers and women that have come through the school... I love you
