You might have seen those little bottles in the shops and heard all the claims - Immune, anti-inflammatory, blood sugar, anti oxidant, cardiovascular.... And wondered is there anything ginger can’t do?

The reason I blend up ginger root with lemon juice and water and keep a bottle in the fridge is to support digestion.

✨ Helping stimulate motility - meaning food may move through the stomach more efficiently

✨ Supporting bile flow which is important for the digestion and absorption of fats

✨ Helping to settle **nausea** — one of ginger’s best-researched benefits

✨ Supporting healthy digestive motility

Shots are a concentrated way of getting fresh ginger into your diet, but there are plenty of other ways.

Try adding fresh or powdered ginger to:
🫖 Tea
🥗 Dressings
🍜 Stir-fries
🥤 Smoothies
🍲 Soups

Cheers!

**Do you use ginger regularly? And what's your favourite way to have it?**

☕️Coffee is regularly a controversial conversation I have with my nutrition clients.
Some enjoying up to 10 cups a day! It may not matter how much they drink but how it is prepared.

This week I had the opportunity to research how it affects heart health in more detail.
I was pleased to contribute to Medical News Today coverage of the American Heart Association’s latest statement on coffee and cardiovascular health.
One important point is that unfiltered coffee (such as cafetière or Turkish coffee) contains catestol, a polyphenolic compound that can raise LDL cholesterol. Paper-filtered coffee removes much of this compound, making it a better option for those managing their cholesterol.
Coffee can absolutely be part of a healthy lifestyle, but it’s a reminder that the details matter—and nutrition is rarely one-size-fits-all.
What type of coffee do you like to drink?

🌼The ‘Eat Better Feel Better’ event was well received by all that came along.
We even got some ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️reviews.

🌸It a wonderful opportunity to connect and share our passion for cooking whole foods and discuss all the metabolic health benefits they can offer us.

🍋No one left with any doubts about what metabolic health means for them.

🍓We made healthy snacks, ferments to take home and a lovely lunch to enjoy together.

👋Would you like to come along to the next one?

🍋crunchy seed crackers + savoury egg muffins + fruity and nutty power balls.
🍋Great to see whole foods being valued and offered instead of UPF options😋
🍋Thanks for the invite

🦠Could your GP soon be prescribing a spoonful of fermented food a day???
A busy day today discussing the wide ranging benefits of fermented foods, to an enthusiastic group of NHS healthcare professionals. All headed home happy with a jar of their own to bring to life.

🦠Regular consumption of unpasteurised sauerkraut provides several evidence-based metabolic benefits:
✨Improved Digestion: Probiotics in sauerkraut help balance gut flora, which can reduce bloating.
✨Strengthened Gut barrier: to maintain a strong gut lining and prevent “leaky gut”.
✨Reduced Inflammation: Fermentation creates unique bioactive compounds, which calm inflammation and support immune regulation.
✨Enhanced Nutrient Absorption: lactic acid fermentation breaks down nutrients, making it easier for the body to absorb essential vitamins and minerals.
✨Immune System Support: Since approximately 70% of the immune system resides in the gut, the beneficial bacteria in sauerkraut help modulate immune responses and protect against infections.

Which is your favourite fermented food?

Magical Madeira🇵🇹
We welcomed in 2026 with a bit of winter walking.
Lovely level lavadas + steep decents down dramatic cliffs + climbing up through the clouds to monumentally misty mountains.

I would highly recommend visiting in April or May for the flower festival the drier weather and the hydrangea and agapanthus lined roads. 🌼🌺🌸🪻
