๐Ÿ’› Happy International Friendship Day!

Great care doesn't happen by accident. It grows out of a team that genuinely enjoys each other's company.

Although our residents had a fantastic time on holiday and they are still telling their stories now... we think it's safe to say our staff enjoyed their down time and had so much fun together too! From shared laughs to memories that'll be talked about for weeks, moments like these are what make our team feel like family.

That friendship carries straight back into the care our residents receive every single day. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Three days, three amazing spots, one unforgettable trip!

Some of our residents recently enjoyed a Cornish getaway, starting with thrills at Camel Creek Adventure Park, followed by a wander around picturesque Padstow and an afternoon on Harlyn Beach, before rounding things off with a day in Newquay: beach time, a spot of shopping, and a well-earned pub meal.

From adventure parks to golden sands, it was three days full of fresh air, laughter, and brand new memories.

Talking to your parent about moving into a care home is never easy.

It's one of the hardest conversations a family can have, and there's no perfect way to start it. Waiting too long can make the decision feel rushed, or take the choice away from them entirely.

A few things that help:
๐Ÿ’™Start early, before there's a crisis
๐Ÿ’šAsk what matters most to them: independence, staying near friends, hobbies
๐ŸงกInvolve them in the decision, don't make it for them
๐Ÿ’›Remind them this is about getting support, not losing control

At Manor, we know this conversation often starts long before anyone visits us. If you're having it right now, you're not alone, and we're here when you're ready to talk it through.

This week, a group of our residents from Manor Community got the chance to visit one of the most famous buildings in the country: the Houses of Parliament.

We stood together in Westminster Hall, a space that's nearly 900 years old, and looked up at the huge wooden roof above us. It's hosted coronation banquets, state trials, and centuries of British history. Sunlight was pouring in through the big stained glass window at the far end, and honestly, a few of us just stood there taking it all in.

But the best part of the day wasn't really the history. It was just being out together. Lots of chatting, laughing, and photos, with everyone proudly wearing their visitor lanyards. Days like this, seeing something new and spending time together away from the usual routine, mean so much for everyone's wellbeing.

Big thanks to the team who organised the visit and to the staff at Parliament for making us feel so welcome. We're already talking about where to go next!

Today one of our residents enjoyed a lovely trip out to a proper cat pub, a cosy local famous for its resident felines who clearly run the place! From a sleepy black cat curled up on a chair by the window, to a friendly tabby getting head scratches right on the bar, to another tabby confidently strutting along the counter like it owns the joint (it probably does), our resident had the best company for their drink.
There's nothing quite like the simple joy of a cosy pub, a fresh glass of juice, and cats who are happy to be fussed over. Little outings like these make such a difference, good for the soul, and clearly good for a smile too! ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿน

This week is Alcohol Awareness Week.

It's something we don't always talk about openly, but alcohol and mental health are more closely linked than many people realise.
While a drink can feel like it takes the edge off in the moment, over time it can quietly make anxiety, low mood and loneliness feel much worse, not better.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please don't face it alone.
The best place to start is by contacting your GP or you can find services in your local area by clicking the link
