You may have seen recent discussions about the proposed terminology change from PCOS to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome).

Why does this matter?

Because this condition is much more than ovarian findings alone. It can involve hormonal, metabolic and ovulatory changes affecting overall wellbeing.

One important point: on ultrasound we do not diagnose PMOS/PCOS — we assess ovarian morphology and provide information that supports the wider clinical picture.

Medicine continues to evolve, and clearer terminology helps patients better understand their health.
