🧡 Orange June: Raising Awareness for Batten Disease 🧡
Today, June 9th, marks World Batten Disease Day. The official colour representing Batten disease awareness is orange, which is why June is often known within the community as "Orange June."
Raising awareness of rare diseases helps create understanding, compassion, and stronger support networks for those affected.
As a Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Instructor, I am reminded every day of the importance of nurturing touch, connection, and supporting every child's wellbeing and development. Today, we honour the incredible strength of children living with Batten disease and the families who walk this journey alongside them.
🧡 Wear orange today.
🧡 Share this post to spread awareness.
🧡 Help shine a light on rare diseases and the families they impact.
Together, we can help ensure that no family feels unseen and that awareness continues to grow.

Toddlers have a funny way of asking one very important question:
“Do I matter to you?” 💛
Sometimes it sounds sweet like:
“Play with me!”
…and sometimes it looks more like whining, following you everywhere, asking for the same bedtime story 47 times, or yelling “MOOOOMMMM!” from another room for absolutely no reason 😅
But behind all those little “annoying” moments is actually a child looking for connection, safety, and attention.
Their behavior is often less about being difficult… and more about wanting reassurance that they are loved, seen, and important.
So next time your toddler insists you watch them jump off the couch for the hundredth time today — congratulations 😂
You are their favorite person in the whole world.
Tiny humans. Big feelings. Endless snacks.
And somehow… endless love too ❤️🐼

🚨 New UK Guidance on Screen Time for Young Children 🚨

A new evidence-informed report from the UK Government’s “Best Start in Life” initiative, supported by the NHS, highlights important concerns about screen time and child development in children under 5.

Key findings:
• 90% of brain development happens before the age of 5
• Excessive screen time may negatively affect:

- language development
- concentration
- emotional and social skills
- sleep quality
- eyesight
- healthy weight

The guidance recommends:
➡️ Under 2 years old: avoid screen time except for shared family activities like video calls
➡️ Ages 2–5: limit screen time to around 1 hour per day or less

Experts also warn against:
❌ fast-paced social media-style videos
❌ social media use for young children
❌ AI toys, chatbots, and smart devices for little children until more research is available

What should parents do?
✔️ Spend more time talking, reading, and playing with children
✔️ Create screen-free mealtimes and bedrooms
✔️ Avoid screens before bedtime
✔️ Watch content together instead of leaving children alone with devices
✔️ Lead by example with healthy screen habits

Children learn best through real human interaction, play, movement, emotional connection… and even through baby massage or baby yoga classes 😉

What are your experiences with screen time and young children?
Have you noticed changes in behaviour, sleep, or concentration?

✨ Today’s micro-break: 3 deep breaths

Yes, really. That’s it.

Not yoga in Bali.
Not a spa weekend.
Not that magical “me time” parents keep hearing about 😅

👉 Pause for a second.
👉 Take a deep breath in through your nose.
👉 Slowly breathe out through your mouth.
👉 Repeat two more times.

Your nervous system just whispered: “Thank you.” ✨

And here’s the beautiful part 💛
Babies feel our energy.

That’s why at Red Panda Therapy I focus not only on babies during:
🐼 baby massage
🐼 baby yoga

…but also on helping parents slow down, breathe, and reconnect.

Because a calm parent often means a calmer baby ✨

🌬️ Quick breathing techniques you can try anytime:

🟦 Box breathing (4×4)

- Inhale: 4 seconds (nose)
- Hold: 4 seconds
- Exhale: 4 seconds (mouth)
- Hold: 4 seconds
Repeat 4–6 rounds.
👉 Helps calm stress and stop the anxiety spiral.

🌿 Extended exhale breathing

- Inhale: 3–4 seconds (nose)
- Exhale: 6–8 seconds (mouth, longer)
👉 Quickly reduces tension and soothes emotions.

Parenthood can sometimes feel like being cast in a reality show you never signed up for — little sleep, big emotions, and daily mysteries like: “why is my baby crying after getting exactly what they wanted?” 😅

And that’s exactly why community support matters so much.

It’s not just a feeling — research backs it up. The World Health Organization highlights that parents’ mental well-being has a direct impact on a child’s emotional development, and taking part in support groups can strengthen parenting confidence and skills. Meanwhile, experts at the Harvard Center on the Developing Child point out that strong social connections around families help reduce stress and create a secure environment for little ones.

In short: parenting is easier when you don’t do it alone.

Joining classes, meetups, or support groups offers so much more than just getting out of the house:
✨ the chance to connect with other parents who truly understand
✨ practical advice and shared experiences
✨ a sense of belonging
✨ a judgment-free space to recharge

And the babies benefit too!
Being around other little ones, experiencing new activities, and sharing quality bonding time with their parent all support healthy development.

That’s why at Red Panda Therapy, I create a warm and supportive space where parents and babies can grow together.

You can book:
🧸 Baby Massage
🧘 Baby Yoga

These are more than just classes — they’re an opportunity to strengthen your bond, support your baby’s development, and meet other parents on the same journey.

Not every day has to be “productive.”
Not every moment needs to be planned, maximized, or turned into a lesson.

Some days are simply meant for playing.

Because it is through free play that children learn the most — about themselves, about the world, and about relationships. In those moments, they develop creativity, confidence, adaptability, and emotional resilience.

For parents, this is also an important reminder: we do not have to fill every minute or become the entertainers of every day. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply creating space for our child to explore, imagine, and just be.

No pressure. No agenda. No rush.

Because some days are made for play — and that is more than enough. ❤️

At Red Panda Therapy , through our baby massage and baby yoga sessions, parents nurture lifelong bonds with their children — while also embracing these practices as a joyful form of play.

Remember: some days are simply meant for playing.

If this message resonates with you, like, follow, and share this post with parents who may need these words today. Every day comes with its own challenges, and sometimes a simple reminder can make all the difference 😊

“Why does my baby only fall asleep in my arms?”
“Should I pick them up every time they cry?”
“How can I help my baby sleep better… without stress?” 💭

These are the questions I hear from parents all the time.

👉 One approach you may have come across is the HWL method (Hold With Love / Pick Up, Put Down)
It focuses on gently teaching your baby to fall asleep independently:
✔ you respond to crying
✔ you pick up and soothe
✔ you put your baby down before they fall asleep

🎯 Goal: independent sleep, built on security and trust

---

But then comes another question:
“What can I do to help my baby feel calmer before bedtime even starts?”

And this is where…

✨ baby massage and baby yoga come in — and they work very differently from HWL.

👉 Here’s the key difference:

🔹 HWL works at the moment of falling asleep
– it’s a sleep approach used during bedtime
– it responds to crying in real time

🔹 Baby massage & baby yoga work before sleep
– they regulate your baby’s nervous system
– release built-up tension from the day
– support better sleep… before bedtime even begins

---

💛 Benefits of baby massage & baby yoga:

✔ deeper relaxation and calm
✔ reduced physical tension (often less evening fussiness)
✔ improved sleep quality
✔ stronger parent–baby bond
✔ support for physical and emotional development

---

💡 So instead of choosing one or the other…
these approaches can beautifully work together.

👉 HWL supports how your baby falls asleep
👉 baby massage & yoga support how your baby feels before sleep

And that combination can make a real difference.
