Beautiful Corfu. Such a grounded place to experience the Grounding module of Myofascial Energetic Release.
So much of therapy is about finding our legs-allowing energy to move down in to the ground and give us a sense of ease. Great for knee pain, ankle pain, lower back pain but also touches on feelings of being unsupported(by yourself or others), mistrust(or ourselves, others and the world) , our ability to move through life and very much connected to standing our ground/saying no and our boundaries.
If you would like more solidity, more support and a sense of resource then grounding is the way forward.

Love this place…back in Corfu for MER (Myofascial Energetic Release) training.

Grounding which is rather apt given how grounded this place is.

Love this poem….for whenever we forget to breath.

my brain and heart divorced
a decade ago

over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become

eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other

now my head and heart
share custody of me

I stay with my brain
during the week

and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another

- instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week

and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:

"This is all your fault"

on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past

and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future

they blame each
other for the
state of my life

there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying

so,

lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut

who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage

and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head

I nodded

I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand

"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed

my gut smiled and said:

"in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,"

I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away

"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus
on the uncertain future

your lungs are the perfect place for you

there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either

there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment

there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."

this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves

and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs

I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs

before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said

"what took you so long?"

Sound, silence, breath, attuned touch but most importantly space. Space to unwind, be in the moment, be with yourself.
Still some space if you fancy some space for you.

Looking at the depth of this lake led me to ponder the nature of Biodynamic therapy and how it is different to other modalities.
I notice more and more that the world we live in is teaching us to look for and expect an ‘instant fix’ when often what is needed is time and space. Biodynamic therapy does just that providing a holding presence and an embodied experience.

Catharsis is all very well. Acting out or expressing what has not been said/allowed can feel exciting and novel but this is not enough to reorganise the psyche and the nervous system.

Without a holding presence and an ability to stay in the body(embodied) these cathartic expressions can become familiar and repetitive and we can get stuck in the same cycles of anger, grief and shame.

Being able to stay with the feelings and hold them rather than collapsing or trying to get rid of them allows them to be integrated. That is when deep embodied changes occur.
The integration is the key.

The layers within us.

When emotions are not allowed or named they do not disappear.
Instead of flowing as a natural part of our experience they become held in the body. This held energy means we are left with a ‘background noise’ that can make us feel foggy, lacking energy and not sure where we are in the world. Thoughts can become repetitive,(ruminative), behaviours automatic and feelings distant and unreal.

The body, however, does not forget. What could not be expressed continues to be physiologically held.

When emotion finds a path, either through body awareness, touch, breath, movement, or simply the permission to feel, something reorganises. The held energy begins to move. Thinking becomes clearer, behaviour becomes more spontaneous. Feeling gains meaning.

Feeling and integrating emotions allows mind and body to function again as a single living system, in which feeling, thinking, and acting are not separate processes, but expressions of the organism as a healthy whole.

What Lies Beneath…I’m attending an inspirational training working with the fascia, unwinding and super gentle touch.
Old memories resurface, old holding patterns begin to gently unwind. Our bodies hold so much and yet once released we feel different in our bodies and how we are in our worlds. The best bit…you can learn to do it for yourself. #
