Congratulations to Billy, Steve, and Kevin on being nominated for and receiving a Star Award from Bob Mitchell for their responsive and effective work repairing the flooring in Kings C2.

Following a leak that made four bed spaces unusable, the team acted quickly once the leak had been repaired. They lifted and replaced the damaged vinyl flooring, successfully returning all four bed spaces to service in just two days.

A fantastic achievement that demonstrates teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to minimising disruption to patient care. Well done, Billy, Steve, and Kevin! ⭐👏

William Harvey Statue:

Following news about the hyper acute stroke unit that is to be built at WHH, some preliminary enabling work has already started at the site as the project gets fully underway.

This weekend the removal and safe storage of the William Harvey statue took place, near the emergency department, which was donated by the construction company that built the hospital in 1978.

It was carefully removed and stored by specialists until it can be relocated to a position close to the main entrance, when the building work is complete in 2028.

Congratulations to Sapphire Bushell and Steph Jaramillo, supply chain assistants in theatres at WHH, who were nominated by numerous members of the theatre team for a 2gether Star Award.

Ed Curtin, theatre matron, said: “Huge congratulations to Steph and Saph on winning this award.

“Their hard work, dedication and positive attitude keep our busy store room running smoothly every day.

“Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they consistently go above and beyond to support the team.

“They not only make a huge difference operationally but also bring fun, positivity and a great team spirit to the department. We are incredibly lucky to have them, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.”

2gether is proud to be opening its staff welfare area 'The Lounge' today at WHH. A space for all 2gether staff to relax and recharge. This was a mammoth project that we would not have been able to realise without the expertise of our partners Barons.

We hope that The Lounge provides a welcoming space for colleagues to recharge during the working day for many years to come.

We are so proud to be supporting our colleague Paul Cozens, a Porter at QEQM, as he takes on this latest challenge. Running an ultra-marathon for the hospital that he credits with saving his life is remarkable.

Paul will be running 32 miles for the East Kent Hospitals Charity in October and between now & then we want to give him all the support we can.
