We’re here for families affected by childhood cancer in Wales, providing bespoke emotional, practical and financial support. LATCH is a charity that supports children receiving treatment for cancer at the Children's Hospital for Wales and their families. LATCH provides financial, practical and emotional support and on-site accommodation to families as well as funding specialised equipment, clinical projects and fun activities for the children.

'Within the hospital, the Latch team continues to connect parents for mutual support, facilitate play sessions, and create moments of normality and joy, moments that are so often missing from life at home right now. The challenge of keeping a 3-year-old occupied is exacerbated by the confinement to the ward over often weeks-long hospital stays, so play sessions have been vital to help keep Florence entertained. She especially likes the visits Latch organises from Spark Lab, who bring in science activities for the children to take part in, and allow her to play and get messy and learn new things about the world.'

💜Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is about raising awareness for the difficulties and challenges that families and children face; and one of the less talked about is the monotony of treatment.

🐕Spending hours, days, or even months in hospital is incredibly difficult, and having entertainers and events on the ward is one way to help break up the long hours of treatment. So far this week on Rainbow we've had a pizza party, cakes and sweets, a visit from a Princess, singing and dancing with the kids, and our lovely friend Acer the therapy dog visited the children and staff!

'From that moment on, life became hospital corridors, treatment schedules and long, anxious days. Alex and Demi didn’t come home for weeks. Chemotherapy started straight away, followed by invasive procedures, transfusions and surgery. Florence has spent most days, and many nights, in hospital, with her mum and dad constantly by her side. While her prognosis is good, treatment will continue for at least a year.'

🌈🔔Congratulations Norah!🔔🌈

In early November of last year, not long before her 4th birthday, Norah was diagnosed with Wilms' tumour.

Wilms' tumour is a type of cancer that affects the kidneys that mainly affects young children under the age of 7. Wilms' is thought to be caused by cells that help the kidneys develop while children are in the womb, but fail to shut off after birth and begin growing out of control.

With her treatment now done, Norah and her family are looking forward to life returning to normal 💜

Today marks the beginning of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month - a month dedicated to raising awareness for the more than 4,000 children and young people diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK - and this year, something truly powerful is happening.

21 childhood cancer charities from across the UK have come together as one, united behind the Kids Get Cancer Too campaign. 21 voices. 21 communities. 21 missions - standing together with one shared purpose.

Each charity carries its own story: a child they fought for, a family they stood beside, a community they lifted through the darkest moments. Yet we are all united by a single, determined goal - to raise vital awareness, to push for kinder and more effective treatments, and to ensure no family ever faces childhood cancer alone.

We know that when we stand together, our impact becomes something far greater. Because behind every statistic shared this month is a child or young person. Behind every diagnosis is a family. And behind every childhood cancer journey is a future changed forever.

This is why the Kids Get Cancer Too campaign matters.

Throughout September, we will stand shoulder to shoulder to show the world that Kids Get Cancer Too. Each charity will share its own stories, raise awareness & call for the investment in childhood cancer research that is so desperately needed - & together, we will carry the Kids Get Cancer Too message forward, strengthening our collective impact & driving further change for the children & families we all work so hard to support.

There are many different ways to be here for childhood cancer, and one many families can attest to is the importance of food during tough moments.

Having to think about what you need to buy from the supermarket, how long you'll need to be away from your child, parking, all while your child receives treatment can be overwhelming, and lead to parents not eating.
