We are delighted and incredibly proud to officially announce our new partnership with HACT as we continue to strengthen and expand the support available to our clients and wider communities.

HACT is a specialist housing and social impact organisation working across the UK housing sector to improve outcomes for residents through research, innovation, and practical support tools. A key part of their work focuses on addressing fuel poverty and supporting social housing tenants, particularly those on prepayment meters during the ongoing cost-of-living and fuel crisis. Through initiatives such as fuel voucher schemes and data-led support systems, HACT helps housing providers deliver targeted financial assistance to vulnerable households, ensuring that those most in need receive timely help with energy costs and essential living expenses.

This partnership represents a significant and positive step forward in our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred support that empowers individuals and families to improve their wellbeing, reduce financial pressure, and access the help they need during challenging times. By working alongside HACT, we will be better equipped to support tenants facing fuel poverty, enhance the distribution of emergency fuel vouchers, and strengthen the practical assistance available to those struggling with energy costs.

Collaboration is essential in creating meaningful and lasting change, particularly during periods of financial hardship affecting so many households. By partnering with organisations that share our values and commitment to social impact, we aim to ensure support is not only responsive but also targeted and effective, reaching those who are most vulnerable within our communities.

We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and the real difference it will make to the lives of the people we support. Together with HACT, we are committed to improving wellbeing, reducing hardship, and ensuring that no one is left without the essential support they need during the fuel and cost-of-living crisis.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to HACT for their collaboration, expertise, and shared commitment to supporting social housing tenants across the UK. We look forward to building a strong and impactful partnership that delivers practical help and lasting positive change for individuals and families now and in the future.

With warmer weather approaching, itโ€™s important to be aware that certain medications used in conditions such as fibromyalgia can increase sensitivity to heat, dehydration, dizziness, fatigue, and overheating.

For many people living with chronic illness, including members of FibroSupport-Wales, hot weather can intensify everyday symptoms and make management more challenging.

Today, we remember the 22 innocent lives lost in the Manchester Arena bombing on 22 May 2017, and we hold in our thoughts all those who were injured, traumatised, and forever affected by that tragic night.

Nine years on, Manchester continues to stand united in remembrance, resilience, and compassion. The strength shown by survivors, families, emergency services, and communities across the UK will never be forgotten.

At FibroSupport-Wales, we recognise that trauma does not end when the headlines fade. We stand with everyone carrying grief, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD, and the long-term emotional impact that events like this can leave behind.

Today we remember. Today we reflect. Today we stand together in kindness, solidarity, and hope.

The UK Government is currently piloting a new initiative called WorkWell, designed to shift the focus away from simply signing people off work with traditional fit notes, and instead towards helping individuals remain in employment through tailored healthcare, wellbeing, and professional support.

Backed by the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care, the scheme aims to address long-term sickness, reduce pressure on GPs, and respond to the growing cost of welfare support.

While supporting people to stay in meaningful employment can be positive when the right adjustments, understanding, and flexibility are genuinely in place, itโ€™s equally important that lived experience remains at the centre of these conversations.

For many people living with chronic illness, disability, or fluctuating conditions, work is not simply a matter of motivation โ€” it is often shaped by pain, exhaustion, accessibility, discrimination, and whether appropriate support actually exists.

Any system focused on โ€œkeeping people in workโ€ must ensure that compassion, dignity, and individual health needs are never overshadowed by targets or cost-saving measures.

This evening we had the opportunity to join the Co-Production session hosted by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, which provided valuable discussions, informative conversations, and an important opportunity to share knowledge and experiences.

The session reinforced the importance of collaboration between healthcare professionals, patients, carers, and communities. Meaningful and lasting change can only be achieved when people work together, listen to one another, and ensure that lived experience helps shape services alongside professional expertise.

Thank you to everyone involved for creating such an open, constructive, and engaging space for discussion and shared learning.

The next Co-Production session for the Health Board will take place on 18th June from 5:00pmโ€“6:00pm.

The UK Government has announced that the DWP will recruit 500 additional staff to help tackle the growing Access to Work backlog.

For many disabled workers, jobseekers, and employers, support delays have become a serious barrier to employment and workplace accessibility.

If you are still waiting for an assessment, decision, payment, or renewal โ€” you are not alone.

Hopefully this investment leads to faster processing times and better support for everyone relying on the scheme.

Tens of thousands of disabled people needing support to move into or stay in work will have their claims processed quicker, thanks to action taken by the Department for Work and Pensions.
