Everyone Has Value

At times, we can be our own biggest critics and forget just how much worth we truly have. But the way we value ourselves often teaches others how to value us too.

Remember this today: you are important, you matter, and you are valued. πŸ’™

Take a moment to recognise your own strengths, your kindness, your resilience, and all the things that make you uniquely you. The world is better because you're in it.

As a reminder, I'll be in Carrickfergus Library today from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. If you'd like to call in for a chat, catch up, or simply say hello, I'd love to see you.

See you all soon!

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week, hosted by Marmalade Trust, who have been championing connection and tackling loneliness for the last 10 years.

As a small extension of that message and to encourage a few more connections in our community, I will be at Carrickfergus Library on Thursday 18th June from 12pm to 2pm.

I will simply be sitting there, and there is absolutely no obligation to come over. But if you fancy a wee chat with someone different, I will be there, extending a little bit of kindness and a listening ear to anyone who would like some company.

Sometimes the smallest conversations can make the biggest difference.

This week is International Loneliness Week Marmalade Trust, a reminder that loneliness can affect anyone, at any stage of life.

People often assume loneliness only impacts older adults. While they are significantly represented in the statistics, loneliness reaches across every age group. Friendships change as we grow, work circumstances shift, family commitments evolve, and experiences such as divorce, bereavement, ill health, or becoming a carer can leave people feeling isolated.

None of these experiences should be taboo. None of them should carry stigma.

A simple conversation, a phone call, a message, or even saying hello to someone you pass in the street can make a huge difference. Asking someone how they are might seem like a small gesture, but it could change the trajectory of their entire day.

So if you can, reach out to someone today. You never know how much it might mean.

It’s been a few months since I started sharing here, and I’m really curious about what you’d like to see more of.

I want this space to be useful, enjoyable, and real, and I would love your input so I can shape it around what matters most to you.

Do you enjoy:
🏑 Getting to know me a bit more personally (like my kitchen renovation updates or what I’m learning on my courses)?
πŸ“š Educational pieces with helpful information you can actually use?
πŸ’Ό Updates about my work and services?
πŸ’¬ Or a little mix of everything?

At the moment, I’m sharing a bit of everything, but I would really love to hear what you connect with most so I can focus on that more.

Drop a comment or message me your thoughts πŸ’›

Thanks for the shares and likes, it means alot.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a training session on Health Inequalities and Community Development, and it was a genuinely insightful and thought-provoking experience.

The course highlighted how factors such as income, education, housing, social connections and access to services can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. One of the key messages that resonated with me was that tackling inequalities requires a community-led approach, working alongside people rather than doing things for them.

Some of my key takeaways included:

πŸ’› Health is influenced by much more than healthcare alone.
πŸ’› Strong, connected communities play a vital role in improving wellbeing.
πŸ’› Partnership and collaboration are essential in addressing inequalities.
πŸ’› Small actions at a local level can make a meaningful difference.

It was also fantastic to meet new people and learn about organisations I hadn't previously come across, all of whom are doing incredible work within our communities. Young Lives vs Cancer, Patient and Client Council Northern Ireland and 'communit Community Development and Health Network. These conversations really reinforced the importance of working together and sharing knowledge to create positive change.

I'm keen to continue learning more in this area and to explore what we, as Stacey's Golden Friends, can do to help combat health inequalities and support healthier, more connected communities.

Thank you to everyone involved in delivering such an engaging session. Looking forward to building on what I've learned and putting it into practice.

Volunteered on Sunday rather than working my normal day job. As many of you know, I volunteer with Agewell, and this year we took part in a sponsored abseil down the Europa Hotel, one of Belfast's most notable landmarks.

I hadn't done an abseil since I was 17 or 18 with the Army Cadets, so it had been quite some time! Not going to lie, it was daunting, but it was all in aid of a great cause. I travelled up to Belfast on Sunday morning and joined nine others from the organisation to take on the challenge.

It certainly makes you feel good to help others and support local charities. Without volunteers and supporters, organisations like Agewell wouldn't be able to continue the wonderful work they do in our communities.

Clutter has a funny way of getting in the way of the things that matter most. Sometimes it's paperwork and life admin, sometimes it's digital chaos, unfinished projects, physical clutter, or just general disorganisation.

What type of clutter impacts you the most, and what would help you move past it?

I'm not sure about you, but whenever I have a clear workspace and tidy surroundings, I work better and I feel better too. A little bit of order can make a big difference.

What kind of clutter are you tackling right now?

As we come to the end of our series on Advance Care Planning, I'd like to spend a few minutes focusing on the clinical element and what it means for you.

Throughout this series, we've explored the importance of planning ahead and having conversations about future care. The clinical element brings all of this together by ensuring that your wishes, values, and preferences are considered when decisions about your healthcare need to be made.

From a clinical perspective, you may discuss your current health condition, any treatments you are receiving, and what future care may look like. You can also talk about your preferences regarding hospital admissions, symptom management, where you would prefer to receive care, and any thoughts you may have about treatments or interventions in the future.

These conversations are not about making decisions for you. They are about ensuring you have the information you need to make choices that reflect your values, wishes, and goals. There is no right or wrong answer, and your preferences can change over time.

Advance Care Planning helps ensure that if your health needs change in the future, the healthcare professionals involved in your care have a clear understanding of your wishes and can provide care that is centred around you.

Thank you for taking the time to follow this series. I hope it has helped to explain the purpose and value of Advance Care Planning and encouraged conversations about what matters most to you and your loved ones.

Ultimately, Advance Care Planning is about making sure your voice is heard and that your care reflects what matters most to you.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the All-Ireland Women in Business Conference at Carrickdale Hotel, and what an inspiring day it was.

Sponsored by AIB, this year's theme was Keeping It Real, focusing on authentic conversations, honest lessons, and real strategies for success. It is a message that I absolutely love and embrace every single day.

It was a fantastic opportunity to network with a diverse range of people, from brand-new businesses like my own to highly experienced professionals who have been successfully trading for over 30 years. The event brought together an incredible mix of skills, experiences, and perspectives, creating an atmosphere that was both empowering and motivating.

Women in Business should be extremely proud of the event they delivered. I am certainly glad I attended, as I left with even greater motivation and determination to continue growing Stacey's Golden Friends.

One of the key messages that really stayed with me was that leading with kindness and empathy is not a weakness. You can be compassionate while still being firm, and that balance is a powerful quality in both business and life.

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences, insights, and encouragement throughout the day.

Let's keep it real.

What makes Stacey's Golden Friends different?

There are many wonderful organisations and caregivers providing support to people, and I truly respect the work they do.

But if you ask me what sets Stacey's Golden Friends apart, the answer is simple: it's me.

I believe my greatest asset is the ability to build genuine, lasting relationships with the people I visit. When the same friendly face walks through your door week after week, trust grows naturally. Comfort grows. Real connection grows.

Inviting someone into your home is personal. It can be unsettling when different people come and go, never quite knowing who will show up next. That's why I believe consistency matters. Building a long-term relationship creates a level of care and understanding that simply can't be achieved through constant changes.

I don't just want to provide a service. I want to get to know you. I want to hear your stories, learn about your past, discover your favorite meals, hobbies, interests, and the things that bring you joy. Those conversations genuinely matter to me because every person has a story worth knowing.

At Stacey's Golden Friends, my goal is to create meaningful friendships while providing dependable companionship and support. ❀️

If you're looking for someone who values connection, consistency, and truly getting to know the person behind the name, Stacey's Golden Friends may be the perfect fit for you and your family.

πŸ“ž Reach out today to learn more. I'd love to get to know you.
