Leah & Reggie ~ 1:1 Wellbeing Session EOTAS

Supporting Children Who Are Out of School – One Paw at a Time

Is your child currently out of school, struggling to attend, or finding the school environment overwhelming?

At Therapy Paws UK, we understand that every child’s journey is different. Sometimes, children need a different approach, a safe space and the right support to help them rebuild their confidence, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

Our therapy dog sessions offer a calm, supportive and nurturing environment where children can work towards their individual goals at their own pace.

🐾 How we can help:
✨ Build confidence and self-esteem
✨ Support emotional regulation and wellbeing
✨ Develop communication and social skills
✨ Encourage engagement, motivation and positive relationships
✨ Help children feel safe, valued and understood
✨ Work towards agreed outcomes through structured, purposeful sessions

💙 Supporting your child’s wider team

We know how important it is for parents, caseworkers and professionals to understand the progress a child is making.

That’s why Therapy Paws UK can provide written session reports and progress feedback to share with your child’s caseworker or relevant professional, with appropriate consent and agreement.

Our reports can document the activities undertaken, engagement, observed progress, developing skills and areas for further support. This can help build a picture of your child’s journey and provide supporting evidence of their progress during our sessions.

Every small step matters. A child joining in, communicating more confidently, managing their emotions or beginning to trust again can be a meaningful milestone. 🐾

Whether your child is accessing EOTAS (Education Other Than At School), alternative provision, or needs additional support outside the traditional classroom, we would love to explore how our therapy dog teams could help.

📩 Parents, caseworkers, schools and professionals: Get in touch to discuss your child’s needs and how Therapy Paws UK may be able to support them.

Because sometimes, the first step back towards learning starts with a paw. 🐶💛

At Paws For Progress our ADHD coaching is a separate service to our Therapy Dog sessions, (Pause For Progress).

My ADHD coaching is for 16y+, together we explore challenges you’re facing, the barriers that are preventing you from reaching your goals and how to work through them.

I frequently work with young, neurodivergent adults experiencing challenges around education, employment and change, low confidence, self esteem and anxiety. My sessions are suitable for diagnosed and undiagnosed individuals requiring guidance and support.

Reggie & Leah are back at Sunnyside Carehome!

We were so pleased to be invited back to Sunnyside Carehome for another wellbeing visit, and what a lovely time we had!

There was lots of laughter, smiles, creativity and, of course, plenty of cuddles with our gorgeous therapy dog team,Reggie and Leah.

Decorating biscuits
A lovely creative activity that encouraged fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and creativity. It also provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to reminisce about baking and share stories and memories from the past. Most importantly, it was fun and gave everyone a sense of achievement when they saw their finished creations!

Trick training with Reggie & Leah
Learning and practising tricks provides mental stimulation, concentration and cognitive engagement. Giving the dogs cues and seeing them respond can also encourage communication, confidence and a sense of purpose. There is something very rewarding about seeing a dog successfully complete a trick — especially when there are plenty of treats involved!

A walk around the gardens
Spending time outdoors can provide a wonderful change of environment and encourage gentle movement, fresh air and sensory stimulation. Walking together also creates opportunities for conversation, social interaction and connection with nature. And having Reggie and Leah alongside made the walk even more enjoyable!

Lots and lots of cuddles!
Perhaps the most popular activity of all!
Spending time with a therapy dog can encourage comfort, relaxation and emotional connection, while providing companionship and a lovely opportunity for residents to focus on the present moment. The simple act of stroking and cuddling a dog can be incredibly calming and bring plenty of smiles.

Most importantly, these visits are about connection, choice, laughter, confidence and creating positive memories.

A huge thank you to everyone at Sunnyside Carehome for welcoming Reggie and Leah back with such open arms. We can’t wait to see you all again!

Reggie & Leah proving once again that sometimes the best wellbeing session comes with four paws and a waggy tail! 🐶✨
