The patterns that feel like they're working against you were once keeping you safe.

That's worth sitting with for a moment.

The hypervigilance. The people pleasing. The need to stay small or stay in control.
These didn't appear randomly.
They formed as responses to situations where they genuinely made sense.

And they worked.
That's why they stayed.

The difficulty is that the mind doesn't automatically update those responses when the situation changes.
The pattern continues running long after the original need for it has passed.

And because it's been there so long, it can start to feel like personality rather than protection.

Like this is simply who you are.

It isn't.

There's a difference between the coping mechanisms you developed and the person underneath them.
Finding that distinction is some of the most important work there is.

It doesn't happen all at once.
And it shouldn't.

But there are quieter questions worth returning to when something feels like it's pressing down:

What does my body actually need right now, separate from what my mind is telling me?

What in my current day to day is genuinely triggering this response?

What belief about this situation is keeping the pattern in place?

These questions don't fix things immediately.
But they start to bring the pattern into view.
And what becomes visible can begin to shift.
