Falls prevention is one of the most important ways to protect yourself or your loved ones from injuries 🦽

Here are a few key adjustments to consider for a safer home environment:

- Clear pathways: Remove trip hazards from floor spaces, such as rugs, wires, and door stops.
- Appropriate footwear: Avoid wearing slippers, sandals, or flip-flops. Instead, choose comfortable, lightweight, and supportive shoes.
- Improved lighting: Ensure lighting is bright, especially in the evenings. Use night lights in hallways and bedrooms, and keep staircases well-lit.
- Safety equipment: Install grab bars in the bath or shower, as well as handrails along stairs and hallways.
- Regular movement: Stand up and move around the home regularly to prevent stiffness, unsteadiness, or leg weakness.
- Eye health: Since poor eyesight is a common cause of falls, schedule regular eye appointments to ensure your vision is as clear as possible.
