Have you tried The Spa at Carden Park yet?
From the moment we arrived at The Spa at Carden Park , we knew we were in for a treat. Nestled in beautiful countryside, the spa exudes a serene and welcoming atmosphere that instantly melts away the stresses of everyday life. The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring your experience is nothing short of exceptional.
The treatment rooms are impeccably designed—spacious, calm, and beautifully decorated—creating the perfect sanctuary for relaxation. We indulged in Botanical massages, and it was absolute bliss. The therapist’s expertise was evident in every technique, leaving us feeling rejuvenated and completely restored.
Beyond the treatments, the spa’s facilities are superb. The hydrotherapy pool, trio of saunas, and due of steam rooms offer the ideal opportunity to unwind, and the relaxation lounges provide a tranquil space to linger over a refreshing herbal tea. Every detail, from the luxurious robes to the ambient lighting, enhances the sense of calm.
Whether you’re seeking a day of pampering or a full spa retreat, Carden Park offers an unforgettable escape. It’s more than just a spa—it’s a sanctuary for the mind, body, and soul. We left feeling refreshed, renewed, and already planning our next visit.

A little impromptu visit to the this weekend. We stayed at Obviously if you follow this page you know we love going to spas and we are currently building a ‘garden spa’ at home. We didn’t visit here for the spa so didn’t have any treatments so can’t give our opinion on them. However, we did use steam and sauna and ate at the restaurant.

Sauna solid 3/5. It is a family hotel so not the most relaxing sauna as pool had a lot of children in it. Decent 70-75* and spacious. Shower right outside that you can turn to cold đŸ„¶đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

Steam 4/5. Really good humidity and heat! Also a decent size,

Out door plunge! 1000/5 I did 15 mins sauna, cold shower, 15mins steam then walked straight out the spa garden and dived in the lake. IT WAS TREMENDOUS!

The Muddy boot pub which is part of the hotel was cosy with good music and variety of drinks
.. Aspall on tap 😍

Food. We got the mussels which were decent and the surf and turf

.. Now you know how much of a steak lover I am! The fillet was nice, it didn’t blow me away there was no crisp/sear to it but it was a decent piece of meat. Hol wasn’t impressed, but she has me cooking hers so she’s never impressed anywhere đŸ˜ŽđŸ€Ł

Breakfast was included and had a wide variety of cereals, pastries, continental as well hot food from the kitchen. 2 x full English were good, few more beans would’ve been good and maybe an extra egg but I’m a growing boy!

The staff were all brilliant. Really helpful, service was prompt in the restaurant an in the muddy boot.

Overall we’d definitely return and recommend.

Little photo dump of how I created our ice bath from a free standing internal bath, to a sexy sleek freeze you bo****ks off external bath using the chiller unit. I will eventually get around to posting the videos of everything step by step, from creating the building housing our and hopefully eventually the creation of both rooms the outdoor shower, and also the pitch and putt . Bare with me people, this is a not my job đŸ€Ł

Little picture dump of the progress. For those who have seen the stories, the Sauna, ice bath and out door shower are in full use. I have documented every step and will get around to posting each part step by step from forming the sauna, modifying a free standing bath to incorporate a chiller unit. But for now make of these lot what you will đŸ€Ł ❄

THE ROOF THE ROOF THE ROOF IS ON đŸ”„Next came the roof!!! Sheets of 12mm ply (again free of charge from a site shutting down I was working on) then felted (got 2 x rolls free from a friend who’s a roofer) baton at ever 600mm roof lat (bought đŸ€ź) followed by 3m sheets supplied for free 😎 by a good friend. 1st time I’ve ever done this but it went well. I realised when doing this that had I not got pi**ed when doing the building this would have been easier. Building slightly out of square means roof sheets run out 🙈 Anyway this was October and a very sunny day, I spent the day getting a tan, and having a few slurps đŸ˜©đŸ€Ł roof sheets used were
0.7mm plastisol coated steel roof profile
Firth steels N1000R (no idea what any of this means)

I’m not going to lie, this thing is looking fu***ng mint! This is the 1st time I’ve ever built anything. After getting the shell up I put the doors in (had to buy beading which cost ÂŁ125 I was distraught! The builder I got the doors from didn’t give me the beading but f**k me I was expecting about ÂŁ40!! Anyway, after getting the shell up I put 11mm ply on the sides to make walls. (11mm ply free from a building site I worked on 😉) Then I ran roof felt all over it and secured it in place with 2x1 roof lat (bought đŸ€ź) It’s starting to look like a building! ❄

So after I got the raised deck up and in it was time to build the frame. This was a bit of a pain in the arse as I had to build the back wall 1st and in 2 parts. (Too heavy to lift into place if in 1 piece. I had to do the back wall 1st as it had to be cladded before putting in place. Back wall is cladded with timber 4 x 1 panels I had left over from a fence at one of my properties. Back wall construction is made from 4x2 treated timber (acquired for free) 18mm osb board (purchased from Arnold lavers) roof felt/breathable membrane (free from friend) 2x1 roof lat then cladded. Both side walls were built with 3x2 (free from friend) 12mm osb (purchased) then the front wall / doors are 3x2 (purchased) anthracite double opening doors with 500mm glass panel either side (free from a friend). By the time I got to doing the roof spars I was pretty intoxicated (it’d been a sunny dayâ˜€ïžđŸ») I used the last of the free 3x2 I had and they are perfectly spaced on the back but run out toward the front đŸ˜© meaning when I put noggins in I had to measure every 1 as they’re all different 🙈

So, a little bit of context on this. I forgot to mention I’m trying to build this whole thing as cheap as possible! đŸ€Ł I’ve pulled in favours for materials getting what I can at cost or using friends accounts at merchants to get good terms. I’ve got as much materials for free as I can (finally being a gas engineer has meant I’ve pulled in favours owed😎) I’m going to list cost of materials and also a rough time on my labour spent on it. ❄

Deck progression. Total size of the raised deck is 8m x 3m with the plan to have a building of 5 x 3 leaving a decked area for out door shower and ice bath of 3m x 3m. Joists set at 400mm centres, 6x2 treated joists using 4x4 posts. Shower tray installed that will be under the finished decked area so the shower water will drain away.
