This one is goodbye.
After months (possibly more) of going back and forth and weighing it up, I have come to the decision to close down the account.
I know this will come as a surprise to some people. I’ve spent years working on this and it has brought me so many opportunities. I’ve worked with incredible television and radio producers, written articles, rallied for change and met and worked with some of the most incredible people.
But I have known for a long time now that Instagram simply doesn’t help my mental health. There was a time when having this account was almost a form of therapy - a place to connect with others going through similar things and a place to find purpose in what I was experiencing by helping other people. The very nature of the social media world means that it is always changing, and now, I find that it doesn’t make me feel good about myself or the world, in fact, sometimes quite the opposite.
This has not been an easy decision to make, not only has it challenged my own insecurities, but I know I may be disappointing some people. In the coming days, the account will be left open if you wish to chat to me, ask questions, etc. I am so grateful for all of the love and support I have received over the years, and so grateful for the connections I’ve made - those I’ve managed to meet in person and those I haven’t. Thank you.
