Having a heavy mental load can be both exhausting and debilitating.

What are you carrying this week?

Does this sound like you?

People call you:

Organised
Reliable
Helpful
Responsible
Prepared
Independent

But sometimes... anxiety is driving the whole thing. Anxiety is making you prepare; its what's driving you to be the calm one, the strong one, the reliable one.

It doesn't always have to be that way. Talk about your anxiety somewhere that's safe, safe to let it go even just for a short while.

💜

If no-one has told you this today:

I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you for making it through another week. Even if all you did was put one foot in front of the other.

Sometimes that's more than enough.

💜

You made it through another week. Whether it felt productive, messy, overwhelming, successful, exhausting, or somewhere in between - you made it.

Take a moment to acknowledge that, and be gentle with yourself today.

Life can feel really heavy sometimes - and we may not even know why.

When I start to feel heavy, I light a nice candle and just sit with it a while, maybe talk to a friend, or do some journalling.

What is your comfort activity, when life feels heavy for you? 💜

Have you ever sat down to rest... and immediately felt guilty for it?

Maybe your mind starts listing all the things you "should" be doing.

The washing.
The emails.
The housework.
The work project.
The thing you've been putting off for weeks.

Instead of resting, you find yourself mentally carrying a never-ending to-do list.

The truth is, many of us have learned that our value comes from being productive. We feel useful when we're helping, doing, fixing, organising, or carrying responsibility for others.

So when we stop, it can feel uncomfortable.

Sometimes rest can even trigger feelings of guilt, anxiety, or shame.

But rest isn't something you have to earn.

You don't need to reach the end of the to-do list before you're allowed to pause.

You don't need permission to take a break.

And you certainly don't need to wait until you're exhausted before you give yourself a moment to breathe.

Rest is not laziness.

Rest is part of being human.

💜 Gentle reminder today: If you're tired, you're allowed to rest. Not because you've earned it, but because you need it.

If this resonates with you, counselling can offer a space to explore the pressures you're carrying and the expectations you've learned to place on yourself.

You don't have to carry everything alone.

Burnout can be hard to recognise, especially when you’re used to “just pushing through.”

Sometimes it doesn’t look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like:
Feeling exhausted no matter how much you rest
Becoming emotionally numb or irritable
Struggling to concentrate
Feeling overwhelmed by small tasks
Wanting to withdraw from people
Losing motivation for things you usually enjoy
Feeling like you’re constantly “running on empty”

Burnout isn’t weakness.
It’s what can happen when stress, pressure, responsibility, and emotional exhaustion build for too long without enough recovery or support.

Many people keep functioning while burnt out — going to work, replying to messages, carrying on as normal — while quietly feeling completely drained underneath.

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone.
You deserve support before reaching breaking point. 💜

If you feel ready, counselling can offer a safe space to slow down, breathe, and explore what’s weighing on you at your own pace.
