Eat more... Because as much as we love to keep thinking coffee and vibes will get us the results we want.... It doesn't work

How many times have you said to yourself 

'I'm just going to have a coffee for breakfast and then some boiled eggs for lunch' 

Easier said than done

By the afternoon you're starving, tired, hangry and either grabbing every snack under the sun, or get home and eat twice as much for dinner followed by snacks because you're hungry and think 'Ive hardly eaten today'

It's very rarely meals that are the issue... It's snacking 

Snack calories add up very quickly

So as much as it may feel counterintuitive... By eating more substantial meals... I'm talking protein, colours (veg, salad) and depending how your day looks, a complex carb source... You will be less snacky and it will feel easier to keep your overall cals down

I hear it all the time, I've done it myself many times and it's human nature

Sometimes we genuinely want to start when we can go all in... And that would be great if life allowed that but it never does

There will always be

🎉 Holidays

🔥 Summer

😵‍💫 Winter 

⛹️ Kids off 

😵‍💫 Tired 

🙄 Work 

🍕 Meals out

🤬 The fridge breaks (happened to a client.. we pivoted 🤣)

There will be genuine reasons we can't do what we planned, and there will be things that happen that we use as an out.

If your plan relies on none of these things coming up... Not happening 😭

Real results take these things into account and make plans for them.

Picking your battles

Planning ahead

Making compromises 

Doing what you can that day instead of writing it off 

Imagine if you just stopped waiting for a better time, and started NOW.

The amount of times I've heard a variation of

'It's time for me' over the last few weeks has been immense

Women taking it all on

Everything falling on them

Looking after everyone else

And then saying enough is enough

Taking that time for yourself isn't selfish... It's vital 🔥

This is where those old thoughts can creep in and you just think screw it. Leading to a weekend of overeating and starting again Monday

But it doesn't need to be this way 

You can enjoy a drink and even some crisps if you really want... It's the mindset of thinking these are 'bad' that leads to the response of pressing the F button

BUT at the same time, if you're serious about your goals and are only grabbing the crisps because they're there, and you know you get snacky... Can you prep a healthier option?

I'd also recommend planning the next day as best you can.. starting with a good healthy breakfast to get your day started on a solid note 👌

Pick your battles 

And remember it's your calories as an average that matter .. so writing off the whole weekend will be the thing that ruins your progress.... Not the one or two things now and again that you genuinely want

Hear me out. I know this is a weird thing for me to say as that's why most women come to me

BUT

It is so engrained in us women to be chasing the scale, wanting to lose weight, and actually forgetting why. So it becomes a chore

Always thinking about what we're doing, what we're eating because I want to lose weight... To see a lower number on the scale

How many times have you looked at an old pic where you know at the time you were on a diet but you look great!?😩

Imagine stepping back and actually asking yourself what you want your life to look like.

Firstly, do you actually want to lose weight or would you be happier working on eating better for health, ageing, strength etc...

And if you genuinely do have weight to lose, how about reframing it to FAT loss. This moves the focus away from the scale. This can help with consistency and celebrating other wins along the way.

Also, as we head into Peri menopause dieting can make things feel a lot harder... Hormones need support 🙌

What do you want your days, your weeks, your life to look like? Take a pause and ask yourself that question ❓

Movement, nourishment, rest, joys and consistency.... That's what adds up

The goal should be a lifestyle you can actually live with.... Not one that has you emotionally attached to the bakery by Friday because you know you're 'not allowed it'

Compromises over sacrifices for the win 🔥

Here's the Truth

After a certain point, always feeling like you're on or off a diet gets tedious.

Often we even forget why we're even doing it... It's just part of who we've always been

As we get older priorities change, and our bodies with it

Hormones shift, recovery is needed, fuel is vital

Always chasing the scale with a new strict plan we'll never stick to is never going to work and it's time to accept that👌

It's not about willpower. It's always chasing a vague outcome goal that doesn't really align with how we want to live our lives

So try to reframe

When you stop chasing weight loss as the main goal, and start focusing on energy, caring about your body, movement, nutritious food.... To FEEL good

Things start to change

More sustainable

You feel like you can live your life so no more on track/off track

And ironically... your body starts working WITH you

Try focusing on daily goals you can control rather than weight based outcome goals and it might start feeling a little less meh ❤️
