Hi all! Welcome to our Insta account that I'm going to try to use more!
Well - I'm all ready and packed up for training in Leyland.
This half term has given me a lot of time in a car - and I've used some of that to reflect on what's been happening 'work-wise'.
I’m feeling excited to start this week; it really feels like the final furlong in my OT journey.
The journey here has been both metaphorical and also at times a literal one. I started by training as a counsellor, then in play therapy, travelling to Northumberland for Filial and AAPT training, Sheffield for TraumaPlay, then was given the amazing opportunity of attending TP retreats in Greece and Austria. Along the way, I met the inspiring people and my love for neuroscience fully took root. I even got to assist at a neuroscience conference in Florida and published my kids’ polyvagal story.
There have been a few blocks in the road as well - my supervision path didn't go according to plan and then when I applied for Sensory Integration training, I was told I needed further qualifications. So off I went to complete my MSc, and after two years of Zimmer frames, grab bars, and commodes, I’m now almost at my goal - to become a SI, EMDR practitioner OT (who hopes to never see a 4 wheeled walker again!)
Next week I start Module 3 of the hands-on Ayres' Sensory Integration WISE training, and it feels like all those threads are coming together.
I can’t thank everyone enough who’s been alongside me on this journey—especially Badger, who’s been my rock through wobbles, tears, and tantrums (Code Brown!) and helped me get here.
I'm also feeling very proud of the therapy and community space we have built in the woods - complete with Mongolian Yurt and one day, I can’t wait to have a purpose-built SI cabin in the forest to practise from ( !).
